Bullet hell. Two words that can make a gamer quiver with fear or with enjoyment… or both.
One look at Overdriven Reloaded: Special Edition and you can be sure that the game is easily a ‘bullet hell’ title. In this vertical, frantic HD shoot-em up you will be dodging coloured projectiles left and right, whilst shooting various bullets in the enemy’s direction – all the while praying that your muscles and brain can move and think fast enough to see you through to the other side of the level.
Overdriven Reloaded: Special Edition comes jam packed with a plethora of modes and challenges, from the story mode to an arcade offering and even a Manic mode whereby the player has no health bar. An Easy, Normal or Hard difficulty will accompany you for a little help or to spice things up, and a Nightmare difficulty has also be included, albeit probably for the bullet hell masochists out there.
A ton of puzzle maps have also been implemented, including a match-3 type deal, and if you do find you have a break in amongst all the dodging and shooting, then looking out for certain collectibles will do you good.
Overdriven Reloaded: Special Edition has now released onto the Microsoft Store for Xbox One and PC owners at the price of £6.69. It’s an Xbox Play Anywhere title too but if that doesn’t sway you into a purchase, then make sure you keep an eye out for our review!
