P1 anchor light – out now on Xbox

What is it with lighthouses on the Xbox Store lately? First, we had the “exquisitely crafted” and relaxing 4.5/5-scored Keeper. Then, we were plunged into the terrifying, sanity-draining job from hell in Static Dread: The Lighthouse. Today, a third beacon has been lit in P1: Anchor Light, and this one brings the viral anomaly-hunting genre to its shores.

P1: Anchor Light is now on Xbox Series X|S.

P1: Anchor Light from developer and publisher Perp Games, which previously launched on PC and PS5, will set you back just ÂŁ6.69.

A Staggered Launch, A New Horror

We’ve been tracking this particular signal for a while. It was back in August that we first reported on this new horror title, noting that P1: Anchor Light would get a staggered launch across platforms. Now, that staggered release has finally brought the experience to the Xbox audience.

The Lighthouse Beckons

You have stepped into a lavish and opulent lighthouse, but this beautiful façade hides a sinister secret. Its beacon, once a trusted guiding light, now threatens to unleash untold horrors upon the world.

Your mission is clear: identify the ever-seeping anomalies in a bid to shut it down. But the restless entities within will fight back, their desperate whispers echoing through the halls.

And it is here where P1: Anchor Light gets really tense. The game features a ‘Red Light, Green Light’ mechanic. When the music is playing, you’re safe to move and investigate. But the second the music stops, so should you. Any movement might be your last. You must freeze, listen, and pray it doesn’t find you.

This storied lighthouse holds a dark past. Scattered throughout the looping halls are floppy disks, each one revealing a flicker into the minds of those who once lived – and perhaps died – within these walls. These memories offer crucial insight into the horrors you’re facing.

For those who truly want to test their sanity, the game features unlockable difficulty modes that turn familiarity into fear. Think you’ve mastered the layout? ‘Nightmare’ mode begs to differ.

Your Anomaly-Hunting Checklist

Here’s what you can expect from your time in this haunted lighthouse:

  • An Anomaly-Hunting Horror Experience in a lavish, terrifying lighthouse.
  • Unique “Red Light, Green Light” Mechanic: When the music stops, you must freeze, or it might be your last move.
  • A Gripping Mystery: Find floppy disks to uncover the dark truths of the lighthouse.
  • Unlockable “Nightmare” Mode for the ultimate challenge.
  • A Low-Price, High-Tension Experience.

The beacon is lit, but its light is a lie. If you’re a fan of the new wave of psychological, anomaly-hunting horror games and are looking for a new, affordable thrill, P1: Anchor Light is ready for your inspection on the Xbox Store right now, playable on Xbox Series X|S.

You’ll also find it on the stores of PlayStation and PC (Steam)

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
