Previously having released only on PC, Blade Assault, the action-packed 2D side-scrolling cyberpunk rogue-like from Team Suneat, is launching on Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch today.

Blade Assault is set in a post-war, desolate sci-fi world divided up into three regions: the mutant infested outside grounds, the Undercity where people have moved to seek refuge from the mutants, and the sky city Esperanza, home to the rich and powerful leaders. You will join the resistance force of the Undercity and have your pick from three playable characters, each with their own playstyle and weapons of choice kept in their own armoury.

Your mission: to work alongside your comrades, fight against Esperanza’s corrupt military and bring them to justice.

The game features tight, responsive controls and punchy, energetic pixel art. The combat is satisfying fast-paced and features utilise diverse skills. It’s up to you whether you choose to dodge enemy attacks by dashing, launching projectiles or slashing away with your weapon of choice.

Blade Assault gives you plenty of customisable options. Playable characters have various transformable weapons, which can be further modified by different “Cores” to change your attacks. “Transform Upgrades” are found randomly dotted along your quest and unlock new powers. Your attacks change according to the “Cores” and upgrades you choose, making each run unique.

Key features:

  • Three playable characters, each with their own unique playstyle and signature weapons
  • 200 different items from Cores to Gears
  • Enhanced weapons to turn them into the beasts they need to be to take on the monsters flooding the world
  • Seven bosses
  • The Friendship System encourages making friends and earning rewards from the game’s NPCs
  • Assault Level that unlocks after “finishing” the game and tests the mettle of even the toughest player with endless hard-mode waves of enemies

Head over to the Xbox Store to play on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, or your choice of console store, and grab a copy of Blade Assault for £14.99. It’s already on Steam where it’s got some decent ish reviews.
