Indie developers love looking into the past and creating games based on the classics of yesteryear. Some developers also try and emulate the art style with a modern twist. And then some developers absolutely nail the old-school aesthetic. See for yourself in Roar of Revenge on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
There are now over 180 games published by Ratalaika Games on Xbox, so you’d struggle to find a gamer without one on their card. They’ve encompassed almost every genre during that time and appealed to almost every gamer too. Today’s offering is a point and click game with a creepy atmosphere, which feels somewhat like a lost genre. Hopefully not though, as The Dark Prophecy is out today on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
We can’t get effusive about Catmaze. More than any other game we’ve played this year, it will eject from our memory as soon as we press ‘send’ on the review.
Slavic mythology and our furry feline friends aren’t the first duo that springs to mind when you are wanting a new Metroidvania title to play through, but developers RedBlack Spade and publishers Ratalaika Games are keen to blend these two together seamlessly in Catmaze.
Arenas of Tanks is not a bad game. Arcade mode is slight and will be finished quickly, but Challenge mode comes with much more depth and does provide a modicum of replay value.
