We’ve watched the trailer through two times now, and we still can’t fully tell you how Bone Marrow plays. We think it’s a game similar to the classic 2048, in which you combine pairs of numbers to make bigger numbers, all the way up to the mythical 2048. But in Bone Marrow, the numbers are replaced with swords, shields and food, and you’re combining these provisions together in anticipation of an enemy dropping in and jabbing a maul in your face.
Arriving on Xbox on an unconfirmed date in 2021, Unbound: Worlds Apart is a Metroidvania that comes from reliable publishers Digerati (Sunless Sea, Tower of Time) and newby developers Alien Pixel Studios.
Humble Games, alongside Annapurna Intreactive and Team17, are becoming an indie powerhouse that you can rely on for imaginative, vibrant and deep games. We’ve had The Wild at Heart, Carto, Ikenfell and Supraland over the past twelve months, and they’ve all lit up the black box in some way. ‘Imaginative, vibrant and deep’ are all keywords that apply to Dodgeball Academia.
The Falconeer swooped down in the frantic mess of November 2020. It was a launch title for the Xbox Series X|S, and it got a little lost in the melee. August 2021 is a little more sparse, and players can be tempted in with a newly complete ‘Warrior Edition’ and Edge of the World DLC.

With Ice Cream Surfer, we have a case of great concept, poor execution. Taking on Hitler-Broccoli whilst riding a flying ice cream is a plot that is both barmy and strangely intriguing. And it deserves to be backed up by much better gameplay than what is currently on offer. Its issues with the controls and the characters, as well as a general lack of content, quickly sour things and throw almost any element of replayability out of the window.
Should you want to involve yourself in mass fights, laughing uncontrollably throughout, or wish to get engrossed in the RPG elements of Beneath, you’ll want to put your best fighting shoes on, because it’s time to Paint the Town Red.
Police Stories brings some good ideas to the table but with them comes inconsistent execution. It’s punishing and unforgiving, which will take the fun out of the equation for those looking for a quick blast.
