Panzer Dragoon enthusiasts of this gaming generation have had to make do with a Backwards Compatible version of Panzer Dragoon Orta from the OG Xbox in order to get their on-rails fix. Not anymore though, with dragons taking flight on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One today courtesy of Panzer Dragoon: Remake.
Panzer Dragoon: Remake is a remade version of the first Panzer Dragoon game, but one that’s true to the original, albeit with improved graphics and controls – just to ensure it lives up to the standards of modern gaming. The story remains: On a far away, lone planet, you encounter two dragons from ancient times who have awoken. Armed with a deadly gun from the past, and under the guidance of your new acquaintance – an armored blue dragon – you must fulfill your destiny and keep the dreaded Prototype Dragon from reaching the Tower. Unfortunately, the Prototype isn’t the only threat to worry about in this dangerous world.
As such, you’ll have to pilot the blue dragon through seven realistic looking levels and shoot a variety of enemies using an on-screen reticle. Attacks can come from all angles, so you’ll need to make good use of the 360-degree controls. Expect to blast evil giant dragonflies, frightening man-sized wasps, giant sandworms, and even lethal flying battleships as you traverse vast blue oceans and fly through subterranean ruins.
Panzer Dragoon: Remake is available right now and it’ll cost £20.99 for the privilege to delve into this nostalgic experience. Simply venture over to the Xbox Store and part with the required amount of cash, before beginning your journey to defeat the Prototype Dragon. Let us know if you’re pleased to see Panzer Dragoon getting a new lease of life!
