Paper Pixel – No bloated systems, no sprawling open worlds. This is a straightforward pixel art platformer asking players to jump in, sharpen their reflexes and try not to get folded by the challenge ahead.
Launching on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One for ÂŁ4.19, this latest indie effort from Joffre Macedo Neto and JM Neto Game Dev keeps things crisp, compact and pleasantly retro.

A Platformer That Doesn’t Waste Any Paper
Paper Pixel blends classic side-scrolling action with modern touches, putting players through a series of dangerous stages full of enemies, hazards and breakable environments.
Movement is intentionally traditional – run left, run right, jump, attack – but there’s enough pace and precision here to keep things engaging. Your weapon is just as important for exploration as it is for combat too, with walls to smash through and hidden paths waiting to be uncovered.
It all sounds delightfully uncomplicated, and in a gaming landscape full of enormous 100-hour adventures, there’s definitely room for something a little more tightly packed.
Another Retro Release From A Familiar Indie Team
If the developer name rings a bell, that’s because JM Neto Game Dev has been quietly dropping a steady stream of smaller Xbox titles over the last few years. Games like Warp Bot leaned more into puzzle-solving ideas, while Paper Pixel appears to be cutting straight to the action.
This one looks built for fans of quick restarts, precise jumps and old-school arcade frustration – the kind of game where one bad move leaves your plans scrunched up and tossed aside.
Still, at ÂŁ4.19, it may well prove worth pencilling onto your Xbox wishlist. Paper Pixel is available now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
