Switching on – PC Building Simulator 2 is available on Xbox

PC Building Simulator 2 has switched on for Xbox Series X|S, bringing its detailed, hands-on tech workshop experience to console players ready to swap controllers for thermal paste.

Priced at £20.99, published by Epic Games Publishing and developed by Spiral House, this sequel builds on the foundations laid by the original 2019 release – only this time, everything is deeper, more customisable and far more granular.

When the first PC Building Simulator launched on Xbox One, it scratched an unexpected itch. It turned cable management, GPU installs and budget balancing into something oddly compelling. PC Building Simulator 2 doesn’t just repeat that formula; it expands it.

From Bedroom Repairs To Full Workshop Control

Career Mode once again places you in charge of your own PC repair and building business. You’ll start small, diagnosing issues, replacing faulty components and managing customer expectations. But as your reputation grows, so does your workshop.

Levelling up unlocks new tools, equipment and workspace upgrades. Managing finances becomes just as important as choosing the right GPU. Deliver good service, exceed expectations and the positive reviews follow. Cut corners, and your ratings will reflect it.

It is structured progression, but with enough flexibility to approach jobs in your own way.

Creativity Unleashed In Free Build Mode

For players less interested in invoices and more focused on performance, Free Build Mode opens the floodgates.

With over 1200 licensed components to choose from, you can design a system without budget restrictions. Overclock CPUs and GPUs, tweak RAM timings, install advanced water cooling setups and push systems to their limits. Benchmarking tools like 3DMark and Cinebench are included, allowing you to test and refine performance properly.

Aesthetic customisation goes further too. Add sequenced RGB lighting, apply spray paint finishes, place stickers and even redesign your workshop with new floors, walls and décor. It is not just about what is inside the case, it is about the entire environment.

Building On A Solid Foundation

Back in 2019, we covered the launch of the original PC Building Simulator on Xbox and even ran a little Let’s Play video of it, praising its accessible yet detailed approach to a niche subject. PC Building Simulator 2 clearly takes that blueprint and pushes it further, offering more components, more systems and more meaningful customisation.

On Xbox Series X|S, the sequel feels right at home, especially as the whole console/pc line is blurring more than ever before. The interface is clean, the tools intuitive and the sense of gradual mastery remains satisfying.

A Rig Worth Powering Up

PC Building Simulator 2 is available now via the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox Series X|S for £20.99. Whether you want to run a thriving repair shop, experiment with extreme builds or simply understand what goes on inside a high-end gaming rig, it offers a surprisingly absorbing way to do it.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
