One of 2021’s finest PC strategy games comes to Game Pass today, as Dyson Sphere Program (PC) becomes available for anyone with a subscription.
Finetuners and min-maxers celebrate, as Dyson Sphere Program is made for you. If you’ve enjoyed Factorio, Cities Skyline or the many Sim Cities that have launched over the years, then this will take you into outer space and then scratch your itch for you.
A Dyson Sphere is a megastructure that orbits the sun to produce vast amounts of energy, and that’s exactly what you’re put in charge of constructing here. As a space engineer for the COSMO corporation, you are given the responsibility of constructing the largest of energy-gathering arrays so that the people back home can enjoy a life entirely constructed from virtual reality.
Dyson Sphere Program’s ambitions aren’t limited to factory management, although that is a large component. To build your Sphere, you need resources, which means space-exploration into the vastness of space to gather what you can and then bring it back. As you make progress, too, you will be automating your work, setting up interstellar transport, and generally being the engine that encourages progress for humanity.
You can enhance your spaceship, enabling you to travel further for your mining forays; you can customise your ship and hub to your liking; and you can research new technologies, progressing science in new directions.
Unfortunately, being a PC-only game as current, we will not be reviewing Dyson Sphere Program, but it’s a natty little bonus for anyone who has a Game Pass subscription and a mid- to high-end PC.
If you don’t have that luxury, there is still plenty to enjoy in October. Scorn (Cloud, Console and PC) is coming on October 14th; A Plague Tale: Requiem (Cloud, Console and PC) and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed (Console and PC) are arriving on October 18th; Norco (Console and PC) is due on on October 20th); Persona 5: Royal (Cloud, Console and PC) on October 25th; and Gunfire Reborn (Console) and Signalis (Cloud, Console and PC) will launch on October 27th.
There are leavers among the arrivals. On October 15th, we kiss goodbye to Bloodroots (Console, PC, Cloud), Echo Generation (Console, PC, Cloud), Into The Pit (Console, PC, Cloud), Ring of Pain (Console, PC, Cloud), Sable (Console, PC, Cloud) and The Good Life (Console, PC, Cloud).
