Pick up Never Alone for free on Xbox One

never alone games with gold

You may have thought that you only had the festive season to look forward to, with food and drink aplenty passing your lips, and time with family and friends coming in abundance. But did you forget about the free Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles being delivered to all gamers via the Xbox Games With Gold scheme? You shouldn’t, because right now the rather brilliant Never Alone has gone free.

Usually priced at £11.99, Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) is unlike many other games, in that first and foremost it is here to educate. Yes, that’s right, when Never Alone first released on Xbox One some 4 years ago, E-Line Media were on a bit of a mission – ensuring that each and every gamer out there would hear about the tradition and lore found in the Alaskan Native community.

Built in partnership with the Iñupiat people of the Arctic, Never Alone went on to deliver a stunning narrative experience that focused on a young girl and an arctic fox, as they set out on a journey of discovery. This saw you having to help the girl and fox make their way past numerous obstacles, and solving simple puzzles as they attempted to find the source of the eternal blizzard.

Whilst the actual gameplay mechanics stuttered in places, casting that slight issue to one side, Never Alone was a bit of a stunner to take in – and that is why you should be going all out to experience it right now… especially since it is free to download.

Of course, like every other Games With Gold title that has seen a price removal, in order for you to get involved with the Xmas goodies that Xbox are throwing our way, you’ll need to ensure that you have a valid Xbox Live Gold membership in place. Should you have that, then the Xbox Store will sort you out with a download. Just make sure to pay it a visit and get your download moving before the 16th January 2019 – after that the price will be going back up again.

If you wish to know more about the free Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles being given away this holiday season to all Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamers – including the other free game that has just arrived, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction – then you may well like to check out our in-depth article.

Are the free Xbox Games With Gold titles for December 2018 any good? Yes they are… and Never Alone is one you certainly won’t want to miss.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
