Pinball FX – Goat Simulator Pinball Review

It’s time for a guilty admission: I’ve never played Goat Simulator before. In the hustle and bustle of day to day life, I’ve never had a chance to sit down and play the game. But what I have played a heck of a lot of is Pinball.

So, despite my unfamiliarity with Goat Simulator, when I heard Zen Studios was building a table based on the game, I knew I had to check it out.

Pinball FX Goat Simulator Pinball – a brilliant table

Needless to say, after playing the Pinball FX – Goat Simulator Pinball pack, I’m glad I did! I’ve played a decent number of tables that Zen Studios has made across Pinball FX on multiple platforms and Zen’s mobile offerings (primarily Bethesda Pinball and Pinball Masters). Goat Simulator is, without question, my absolute favourite of their original tables to date.

Bringing the world of Goat Simulator to life, players are tasked with launching a variety of balls (golf balls, soccer balls, basketballs, beachballs, etc.) out of a cannon into the playing field. They are faced immediately with a giant Ubisoft-like Goat Tower in the middle of the table, and upon launching into it can ascend right up the top of the spire. You can also launch balls up the spire, but good luck there.

From there, as you play the table, you get to take on a series of whacky tasks (from charging up 5G towers to getting a lawnmower to start running) and upgrade and electrify your ball. As you up the speed, the game gets crazy fast, leading to a frantic state of play.

Electrifying.

The Goat Simulator Pinball table does a great job of striking a balance between arcadey and classic pinball. The table is very much indebted to the world of video pinball where balls can go at breakneck speeds and visual effects and living statues can breathe life into the table, but Goat Simulator grounds these fantastical elements in strong pinball fundamentals. If you stripped away the crazy speed and nuts tasks, you would still be left with a well designed table with a killer showpiece in the middle. The only area I can really criticize is that the play area is rather cramped to accommodate for the giant spire.

Goat Simulator Pinball is great value too. Pinball FX has a free-to-play base version, but if you want to add tables al a carte, Goat Simulator is among the strongest tables that Zen Studios has built.

All in all, I had a great time with the Goat Simulator PinballFX Pack. There is a genuine case to be made that Pinball FX – Goat Simulator Pinball is the G.O.A.T. of Zen Studios’ original tables. It also has exciting future prospects for other tables from Zen.

THE GOAT!

Recently, Zen Studios joined the Embracer family, which has a number of other beloved gaming franchises under its belt, including Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, Tomb Raider, Saints Row, Metro and Remnant, as well as the Lord of the Rings rights. If Zen wants to make tables based on these properties, and they are given the same TLC Goat Simulator has been given, we could get some incredibly exciting new virtual machines in the not-so-distant future!

Only time will tell, but as of right now, run (preferably on four legs), don’t walk to check out this Goat Simulator Pinball pack. It’s anything but BAAAAAAAd (I’ll see myself out).
