If you can remember back to 2021, you’ll no doubt have memories of Thief Simulator. Not only was the original game released on Xbox back then, but the sequel was announced too. Some three years on comes the opportunity to stealth our way back into things, with Thief Simulator 2.
Available today on Xbox Series X|S, after being pretty well received on PC and PlayStation, is Thief Simulator 2. This is a game which looks to combine stealth with simulator with adventure – or at least, that’s the plan according to those behind it; CookieDev and Ultimate Games.
Having played the original Thief Simulator, we’re expecting big things from Thief Simulator 2. You see, that original game was a bit of a diamond in the rough, and we find that when it clicked, it really did click. In fact, we concluded our 3/5 scored review of Thief Simulator by saying…
There is a gem in Thief Simulator somewhere, it’s just one that you need to dig really deep to reach. I hope the forthcoming sequel builds upon this foundation
The stealthy sequel
No pressure there then, Thief Simulator 2. But let’s see what you can do. Stay tuned for our full review of the sequel soon.
If you can’t wait for that, then let’s get some eyes on what is available here. Thief Simulator 2 is set in a mafia-thief world, playing out in a first-person perspective to offer two game modes (story and free mode). In Thief Simulator 2, players will find, among other things, improved and familiar mechanics and elements from the first part, in addition to a variety of new features. And this new game threatens to place much more emphasis on realism, delivering some twenty hours of thieving fun in the process.
Of course, in Thief Simulator 2, you will engage in a whole range of thieving activities, including, among other things, planning, observing, acting, and then covering his tracks and selling the captured loot. Most importantly, it’s up to the player to decide how to carry out a given job – very much like we did in the brilliant Teardown.
The simulator offers two extensive locations with numerous homes, as well as special places (including a bank storing gold and a resort). Players can also count on a set of useful tools, which includes not only crowbars or binoculars, but also observation drones and hacking tools.
