Developed and published by Nyamakop, Relooted flips the traditional heist formula on its head, tasking players with reclaiming culturally significant African artifacts from Western museums in a stylish Africanfuturist adventure set near the end of the 21st century.

Day One On Game Pass

Relooted arrives as a Day One Game Pass title, meaning subscribers can jump straight into its unique heist-driven gameplay without paying extra. That’s a huge win for a concept-driven indie like this. With its mix of stealth planning, puzzle solving, and narrative themes rooted in cultural reclamation, Relooted feels perfectly suited to discovery through Game Pass.

And thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere, you can seamlessly switch between Xbox Series X|S and PC, continuing your heist wherever you play.

A Heist With Purpose

Relooted isn’t about stealing for profit; it’s about reclaiming history.

Set in the late 21st century, the story revolves around the collapse of a diplomatic agreement intended to return African artifacts to their rightful homes. When museums begin quietly removing items from display to avoid returning them, a new approach emerges.

That approach? Heists.

Players step into the role of Nomali, assembling a crew of everyday people from across Africa to retrieve artifacts of cultural, historical, and spiritual importance.

It’s a concept that blends real-world inspiration with futuristic storytelling in a way few games attempt.

Planning The Perfect Heist

Relooted splits gameplay into two distinct phases: planning and execution.

Before taking an artifact, players must carefully prepare the job. This means scouting escape routes, solving environmental puzzles, and placing crew members strategically to help with the getaway.

Once the artifact is taken, everything shifts into motion. A countdown begins, and Nomali’s flow-based parkour movement becomes the key to survival.

If the plan is solid, escape feels smooth and cinematic. If not, things can fall apart quickly.

Building The Crew

No heist works alone, and Relooted embraces that idea fully.

Crew members come from across Africa, each bringing unique skills to the operation. Some fit familiar heist archetypes, like hackers, while others are more unexpected — including characters who don’t initially look like career criminals but prove invaluable when the job begins.

Recruiting and using the right team becomes central to progressing through the game’s 70 artifact recovery missions.

Africanfuturism Meets Parkour

Relooted’s Africanfuturist setting gives it a distinctive identity, with a futuristic version of Johannesburg serving as the crew’s home base.

The visual style, cultural themes, and real-world artifact inspirations combine to create a world that feels both grounded and imaginative.

It’s not just about pulling off stylish heists. This is about doing so in a world shaped by history, identity, and possibility.

A Different Kind Of Heist Game

With its mix of planning, teamwork, parkour-driven escapes, and meaningful narrative themes, Relooted stands apart from more traditional stealth games.

Launching right now via the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Play Anywhere support and Day One Game Pass availability, this is one heist worth pulling off.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
