Booms. Explodes. Shatters. The usual platforming stuff is all present here in The Storytale on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s just this time, in this fairytale, nobody will ever get hurt.

The Storytale is a one-person love affair, created and published by one Maxim Nuriev. Priced at a mere £4.19, this platforming adventure focuses all thoughts on the adventures of a warrior prince and sorceress princess, delving deep into the archives of gaming to provide a warm, sweet tale.

It’s a platformer at heart and as you fall into the shoes of a daring prince on a journey of redemption and rescue, you’ll discover stages full to the brim with all manner of evil oddities – goblins stumble around, spikes lay in wait, traps prepare to spring and numerous puzzles are ready to test your mind.

It’s also a world in which you’ll get to meet numerous other folk though, stopping for a chat whilst in and amongst the madness. Expect to be gifted spells and magic, weapons to fight back any hordes and the opportunities to float through the air, walk through walls and more. On the face of it there are a ton of different elements on working together and we seriously hope Maxim has been able to pull off each bit

Our full review of The StoryTale on Xbox Series X|S will be live in the days ahead, but for now if you wish to pick the game up, playing it on either Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox Store will sort you out. You can also pick it up on Steam, where it’s been available for a couple of years already – the positive reviews it has garnered there leave us with high hopes.

Game Description:

Once upon a time, a Little Princess who didn’t want to be a queen, slipped out of a palace in search of a mysterious amulet. She believed that the amulet would give her magical powers and help to become a real sorceress. Meanwhile, the Immortal Prince of the neighbor kingdom, having heard about the princess’ disappearance, bravely sets off to find her, armed with cursed weapons and breaking through the horde of goblins. The game is a classic platformer with bunch of levels, goblins, spikes, traps and puzzles. In their adventures, Little Princess and Immortal Prince, surprisingly will find many new friends among goblins. With the help of unusual spells and magic weapons, prince and princess, will float above the ground, walk through walls, become giants smashing everything around, freeze enemies, craft platforms, breathe under water, etc. The StoryTale will tell you a warm and sweet tale about the amazing adventures of the warrior prince and sorceress princess, and remind you of a wonderful era of classic video games.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
