Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 is now on console

Just when it looked like Poppy Playtime couldn’t possibly get any darker, Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 arrives to prove otherwise.

Following a huge PC launch earlier this year, the latest chapter in Mob Entertainment’s horror phenomenon is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch for ÂŁ16.74 – and this may be the most intense trip into Playtime Co. yet.

Huggy Wuggy is back. The Prototype is still lurking in the shadows. And whatever sanity players had left after Chapter 4 is probably about to disappear completely.

At A Glance

  • Publisher: Mob Entertainment

Back Into The Factory We Go…

At this point, Playtime Co. really should have been condemned years ago.

Instead, Chapter 5 – subtitled Broken Things – pushes players even deeper into the factory’s underbelly, placing them directly inside The Prototype’s domain while Huggy Wuggy stalks close behind. Allies are few, trust is questionable, and the whole place appears to be falling apart both physically and mentally.

Mob Entertainment is clearly leaning harder into atmosphere and lore this time around too, with long-buried secrets and the true rotten heart of Playtime Co. becoming central to the story.

If previous chapters were building towards something bigger, Chapter 5 sounds like the point where everything finally starts boiling over.

New Horrors, New Tools

As expected, survival won’t simply come down to running away screaming.

Players will once again use the GrabPack to solve environmental puzzles and navigate dangerous sections of the factory, although new tools and abilities have been added for this chapter. Twisted new creatures also appear throughout the journey – some potentially helpful, others very much not.

And given Poppy Playtime’s track record, it’s probably wise not to trust anything that smiles at you.

The series has always balanced puzzle-solving with sudden bursts of panic surprisingly well, and Chapter 5 looks set to continue that formula while raising the scale of the horror even further.

A Franchise That Keeps Growing

What started as a small indie horror project back in 2021 has become absolutely massive. According to Mob Entertainment, the Poppy Playtime series has now surpassed 50 million players worldwide, helped along by endless fan theories, YouTube videos and some genuinely memorable horror icons.

We recently ranked every Poppy Playtime game released on Xbox so far, placing Chapter 4 at the top thanks to its bigger scale, deeper lore and stronger atmosphere. But with Chapter 5 now finally landing on consoles, there’s every chance that ranking could soon need updating again.

Horror Fans Already Know The Drill

By now, most players know exactly what Poppy Playtime delivers – creepy toy mascots, tense chase sequences, clever puzzles and enough unsettling atmosphere to make every dark corridor feel like a terrible idea. Whether this really is the beginning of the end for the series remains to be seen, but one thing feels pretty certain: Playtime Co. still isn’t done tormenting players just yet.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
