A Descent Into Playtime Co.

For the uninitiated, Poppy Playtime is a first-person horror experience built around environmental puzzles, exploration and relentless pursuit from some of the most disturbingly memorable mascots in modern gaming.

Set within the crumbling remains of a once-beloved toy factory, players uncover the secrets of Playtime Co. piece by piece. The deeper you go, the darker it gets. Whatever happened here, it wasn’t an accident.

Toybox 1 collects the complete opening trilogy; a story arc that steadily expands the lore, the scale and the horror.

Chapter 1 – Meet Huggy Wuggy

The first chapter introduced the world to Huggy Wuggy, a character who instantly became horror royalty.

As we said in our 4/5 review: “Chapter 1 introduces a brilliant and memorable character in Huggy Wuggy that somehow is equal parts cute and utterly terrifying.”

Short, sharp and brilliantly paced, Chapter 1 lays the groundwork, introducing puzzle mechanics, factory exploration and that unforgettable chase sequence that left players gripping their controllers a little too tightly.

Chapter 2 – Bigger, Longer, Deadlier

With Chapter 2, Mob Entertainment expanded everything. More puzzles. More scale. And a new monstrous presence waiting in the shadows. Awarded a 4.5/5 score in our review, we noted:

“Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 on Xbox takes the strong foundations of the first game and ratchets everything up. It is substantially longer, and like the monsters themselves, it is all killer and no filler.”

It’s here that the series proved it wasn’t just a viral phenomenon, it had real horror weight behind it.

Chapter 3 – Expanding The Nightmare

Chapter 3 broadened the world further still, delivering a longer, more layered experience.

Our 4/5 verdict highlighted: “Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3 is a longer and more rounded game… what is here shows that the Poppy Playtime franchise is a must play for horror fans.”

While pacing tweaks were noted, the ambition was clear. The story deepens, the environments grow more unsettling, and the franchise firmly establishes itself as more than a one-hit wonder.

Why Toybox 1 Makes Sense

At £20.99, Toybox 1 offers a clean entry point for newcomers and a tidy way for returning players to revisit the factory’s earliest horrors.

Whether you’re diving in for the first time or looking to replay the trilogy before future chapters arrive, having Chapters 1 through 3 unified in one bundle makes narrative sense, and financial sense.

If you’re curious how each chapter stacks up against one another, our full ranking of the Poppy Playtime games breaks down every entry so far.

The Factory Doors Are Open Again

Poppy Playtime Toybox 1 is now live across Xbox, obtainable from the Xbox Store. If you’re brave enough to step inside Playtime Co., just remember one thing… Don’t get caught.
