Portal-like colour puzzler ChromaGun arrives on Xbox One

Remember Portal? You liked it yeah? Well there’s a new puzzler in town and this one has more than a hint of Valve’s masterpiece about it. Fancy checking out ChromaGun?

Available right now on Xbox One, ChromaGun will set you back the reasonable price of ÂŁ11.99. For that cash you’ll find yourself throw into a test chamber, with the express intention of escaping. Sound familiar? Thought so!

But don’t worry because the portals which are synonymous with that game from years back are gone, and instead you have access to the awesome ChromaGun, a weapon that happily paints anything and everything yellow… or blue… or green… or all manner of colours really. You’ll need to utilise the colours that the gun brings in order to get some lovely workerdroids to help you out, triggering door unlocks and more in the process.

It’s all rather lovely and pretty damn humorous, as our full review of the game hints at. If you fancy getting involved, then you know what to do… point your gun at the Xbox games Store and enjoy the madness that ChromaGun brings.

Game Description:

Welcome to ChromaTec’s test lab! You’re here to test our newest, state-of-the-art military-grade color-technology: The ChromaGun (patent pending)! Use it to try and solve our meticulously designed test chambers. The basic principle is as easy as applying it is complex: Exit the chambers via the exit doors. But be weary of the WorkerDroids in charge of maintaining the chambers. They’re not exactly what you and I would call “human friendly”. Use the ChromaGun to colorize walls and WorkerDroids to progress in the chambers. WorkerDroids are attracted to walls of the same color. Using that mechanic, try to reach the exit door of each chamber. Some doors are more complicated to use than others: They can only be opened using door triggers and only stay open as long as the triggers are occupied. If all of this sounds like your brain can handle it, congratulations! You’re the perfect candidate for our test chambers! That being said, welcome and good luck!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
