Postal 2 Redux – it’s coming!

Just when you thought your errands couldn’t get any weirder, Paradise is back on the slab.

The historically unhinged crew at Running With Scissors, in collaboration with developer Team Beef and new publisher Flat2VR Studios, have revealed POSTAL 2 Redux – a ground-up, full-tilt resurrection of the infamous 2003 open-world shooter.

More Than a Fresh Coat of Questionable Paint

This isn’t just a simple remaster. The team is hoisting every single asset out of the creaking, twenty-year-old Unreal 1.5 engine and slamming it into modern Unity. The goal is to deliver the same familiar, chaotic week in the POSTAL Dude’s life, but with a merciless glow-up and a whole new bucket of toys.

The project is heading to Kickstarter this summer to fund the mayhem.

Born from Team Beef’s work on a VR version of the original, POSTAL 2 Redux is a complete technical overhaul designed to bring the game kicking and screaming into the modern era.

A Modern Makeover for Paradise

  • High-Res visuals: Paradise’s warped billboards and puddles of questionable fluid will finally get the razor-sharp grime they deserve, complete with dynamic lighting that shifts over the course of each in-game day.
  • Zero-Load Streaming World: You can now sprint from one end of town to the other to complete your errands without a single immersion-breaking loading screen.
  • Smarter, Freer Crowds: The civilian AI is being improved. They’ll still snitch and the cops will still overreact, but new pathfinding means riots will spark faster and get messier than ever before.
  • An Arsenal Re-forged in Chaos
  • Weighty Ballistics: Every classic instrument of overkill is being rebuilt from the trigger up, with re-forged physics, rag-doll dismemberment, and rounds that will punch clean through unlucky bystanders.
  • Destructible Interiors: Stores, arcades, and alleyways will be stuffed with physics-enabled junk just begging to be destroyed.
  • Champ 2.0: Paradise’s goodest boy is getting an upgrade, finally earning his kibble as a more useful (and pettable) companion.

The Unholy Trinity Speaks

The teams behind this resurrection shared their, uh, unique perspectives on the project.

“Players begged us to fix the crashes, add modern graphics, and maybe stop the dog from pissing on them every five minutes,” said Vince Desi, Founder of Running With Scissors. “We’re doing two of those things.”

“Flat2VR Studios is genuinely thrilled to help write the next chapter of the POSTAL saga,” said Eric Masher, COO at Flat2VR Studios. “Bringing Paradise to new platforms—and putting the shovel in the hands of both longtime fans and first-time troublemakers—is a genuine career highlight for our team.”

“The original code tried to die on us daily. Running With Scissors let us butcher it and stitch it back to life—now with fewer surprise blue screens,” said Grant Bagwell, Co-Founder of Team Beef. “Kickstarter is simply how we shove even more nonsense in before some suit makes us stop.”

The Blood Drive Begins This Summer

POSTAL 2 Redux is gunning for every modern platform, with plans for Windows PC, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X|S, and even the Nintendo Switch. The final lineup will depend on stretch goals achieved during the Kickstarter campaign.

The Kickstarter “Blood Drive” is set to launch this summer. The pre-launch page is live now, and you can follow it to be notified the moment it goes live. Backers can expect to unlock exclusive game keys, collector’s editions, and even the chance to be immortalised as a character in Paradise itself.

Paradise is getting the merciless glow-up it probably never deserved, and we can’t wait. Now, are you going to sign this petition, or will it be your surviving family members?

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
