The Postal series isn’t exactly known for its polish, innovative gameplay, and groundbreaking graphics, with developer Running With Scissors even taking pride in the title of “Worst Game Ever [Trademark].” Although infamous for its gratuitous violence, mature themes and political (in)correctness, players had the opportunity to play Postal 2 without killing a single person. A tough achievement considering the weaponry at your disposal.
Originally released in 2002, Postal 2 became Linux Publishing’s fastest selling game in its first month, while also contributing greatly to the profitability of the company as it spawned numerous downloadable content expansions. After its initial release, New Zealand’s Office of Film and Literature Classification outright banned the game in 2004 for its “realistic” depiction of violence and abuse towards animals and human beings. Distribution and purchase of the game became a criminal offense, which was deemed punishable by up to ten years in prison and a $50,000 fine. Pocket change, am I right?

As Running With Scissors continues its Early Access development on Postal 4: No Regerts, news of a WIP ‘90s style shooter spin-off game recently surfaced, shocking the community. Releasing at some point in 2021, Postal: Brain Damaged sees The Postal Dude delirious, as he had taken one too many hits to the head. In his unconscious, drugged and boozed-up state, The Postal Dude finds himself trapped in a psychedelic dream world complete with dildo-toting asylum patients and psychotic elderly nurses. Yup, sounds like Postal.
According to a press release, reported on BloodyDisgusting.com, Running With Scissors founder Vince Desi states, “They just don’t make badass shooters like they used to.” The developers plan to make a skill-based, hardcore, ultraviolent first-person-shooter contained within massive, retro-styled arenas. Armed with an equally ridiculous arsenal that remains faithful to the irreverence of the series, The Postal Dude will shoot and urinate through stages escalating in insanity and difficulty. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Postal game without exposing yourself and urinating.

Postal: Brain Damaged will release on PC (Steam) and consoles in 2021. It is unknown at this time whether or not the console release will pertain to current or next-gen systems.
