Potions A Curious Tale – now on console

After bubbling away on Steam for nearly two years and collecting countless ‘Very Positive’ reviews, Potions: A Curious Tale has finally stepped out of the cauldron and onto console.

Priced at £16.74, the magical crafting adventure is now available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, giving a whole new audience the chance to explore Luna’s enchanting but occasionally dangerous world.

Stumbling Cat’s debut title has already built a loyal PC following thanks to its thoughtful puzzle design, deep potion crafting and emphasis on brains over brawn. Now the spellbook has opened wider.

Potions Over Power

Unlike most fantasy adventures, Potions: A Curious Tale is all about avoiding fights, not racing toward them. Luna is a young witch who quickly learns that brute force rarely solves anything. Instead, she brews clever concoctions, manipulates the environment and even turns enemies against each other to get what she needs.

Trick, charm, frighten or outmanoeuvre creatures across the land. Some beasts simply cannot be beaten in combat, no matter what you throw at them, so improvisation becomes essential.

A Rich Crafting System To Master

Luna’s journey is built around experimentation. Ingredients are gathered from seven distinct biomes, each packed with secrets and quirky characters from folklore. Mix and match components to discover more than 100 unique potions, each with its own elemental twist and specific use.

Your grandmother provides guidance, Helios your talking cat delivers commentary with more sass than wisdom, and you are encouraged to try, fail, learn and brew again.

Potions: A Curious Tale leans heavily into its coming-of-age themes. Luna must navigate a world where adults do not always have the answers, advice is not always helpful and respect must be earned. Fairy tale figures appear along the way, some kind, some mischievous, all memorable.

Puzzles, resource management and exploration blend together to create a journey that is enchanting without ever becoming overwhelming.

A Console Launch Worth Brewing Up

With its thoughtful design, charming world and deep crafting systems, Potions: A Curious Tale feels tailor made for a console audience looking for something a little gentler yet rewarding. The move from Steam to console keeps everything that made it a PC favourite, while giving Luna’s journey a new chance to shine.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
