For those still coveting Chicken Dinners in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG as it’s known to many, you’ll now be able to test your skills against players on other console platforms. So, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers, let battle commence!
PUBG Corporation have just released its latest update for the ever-popular battle royal experience – Update 4.3 to be exact – to the live console servers. Amongst other things, it finally introduces cross platform play to users on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This will enable players from both consoles to join in the same matchmaking pool and face off against each other on the battlegrounds for the first time ever. Don’t worry if it’s not something you fancy partaking in though because the cross play option can be turned off in the settings; although we’d recommend leaving it on to get into a match more swiftly.
Update 4.3 also brings about a new method of tracking progression in the form of Survival Mastery, which rewards players for their survival skills in each match. A detailed review of each combat encounter can also be viewed to see how they and their teammates have performed throughout the battle. Survival Mastery also introduces the PUBG ID, which is a new way to show your survival accomplishments when interacting with other players. Now you can customize your name plate, emblems, and even your character’s pose to make your PUBG ID unique to you.
In terms of other changes, Update 4.3 includes a brand new crate weapon, the double-barrelled, pump-action, DBS shotgun. It holds 14 shells and is able to fire off two shots per second, ensuring that the DBS will be essential in close quarters combat during the latter stages of a game. There are a variety of other changes and bug fixes in this update too, so be sure to check out the full patch notes HERE for more details on those. Are you looking forward to heading out onto the battlegrounds to take on the best, and worst, players on a rival console?
