We won’t beat around the bush – the original Tennis World Tour failed to hit the promised heights when it first launched, needing many a fix and amendment to even put it into the realms of consideration. But that was way back in 2018 and here and now in 2020 the sequel is looking to provide a much more rounded, more equipped tennis experience. With a new team in place, and NACON and Big Ant Studios now pulling the shots, there is much hype for the new big-hitter on the block as Tennis World Tour 2 releases on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Available on those formats right now (a UK release is happening on the 24th Sept), with a Nintendo Switch edition of the game due to rock up on court come October 15th, Tennis World Tour 2 looks set to deliver a much more accomplished tennis affair to fans of the sport.
Priced at $39.99 for the Standard Edition or $59.99 for the ACE Edition, this is being marketed as a full-on, highly realistic tennis game, one that has seen the development team behind it go all-out in the dynamic stakes to ensure that it is as faithful to the real world sport as it can be. It is being powered by a brand new in-house engine, it has enhanced player animations, it promises to be much more stable through the online circuit, and there have been a host of improvements made to the timing of shots, the serve system and more. Heck, it’s even got a fully functioning Hawk-Eye system for tight calls.
Game modes wise and expect to be treated to a deep career, tournament options, exhibition matches and both singles and doubles games online – although this is only limited to two consoles with a maximum of two players on each. Throw in full ATP tournaments, court types and no less than 38 professional players, and it’s easy to see that where the original Tennis World Tour went wrong, Tennis World Tour 2 looks to solve it.

Our full review of Tennis World Tour 2 on Xbox One will be coming your way in the days ahead, but for now if you wish to play your very best slice, reckon you can nail a passing shot to the baseline, or are just looking to pull off a variety of smashes, Tennis World Tour 2 should deliver it. Just get over to the Xbox Store to grab it on Xbox One, or alternatively take up the usual PS4 and PC options. If you do, you’ve got two options – the Standard Edition or that ACE Edition which brings with it the full game and the Annual Pass which provides access to the Official Tournaments and Stadia pack, which in itself drops the likes of the Roland-Garros tournament with the Philippe-Chatrier, Suzanne-Lenglen and Simonne-Mathieu stadiums, the main court of the Madrid Open, the Estadio Manolo Santana, the main court of the Halle Open, the OWL ARENA and the Tie Break Tens tournament.
That Annual Pass is also available individually ($24.99), as is the Official Tournaments and Stadia Pack for ($14.99) and the Legends Pack for $7.99 – the latter brings into play Gustavo Kuerten and Marat Safin.
