We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – sometimes the simplest ideas are the hardest to master.

One Button Games 5-in-1 Vol. 5 has arrived on Xbox Series X|S, bringing another bundle of minimalist arcade challenges where every action comes down to a single press of a button. Surely they must be running out of game ideas soon?

Published by Xitilon and developed by ABA Games and m1s3ry, this latest collection continues a quirky series built around ultra-simple controls and fast-paced gameplay. As the name suggests, each of the five included games is controlled entirely with one button – but that doesn’t mean they’re easy.

One Button, Five Challenges

The core concept behind the One Button Games series is wonderfully straightforward. Each game in the bundle uses just one button for every action, creating gameplay experiences that are instantly accessible but surprisingly tricky to master.

Volume 5 continues that formula with five distinct arcade-style challenges, each offering its own twist on the one-button mechanic.

  • R WHEEL – Survive The Spinning Chaos: In R WHEEL, players must survive inside a rotating wheel filled with deadly spikes.
  • DIVARR – Precision Bomb Defense: DIVARR puts players in charge of defending against waves of falling bombs.
  • THROW M – Balloon Survival: In THROW M, players float in the air inside a balloon while enemies fire darts from the side of the screen.
  • WIPER – Clear The Windshield: Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most satisfying. WIPER places players in control of a swinging windshield wiper tasked with clearing rain from the screen.
  • D MISSILE – Arcade Defense Action: Finally, D MISSILE rounds out the collection with a missile defense-style challenge.

Continuing A Minimalist Arcade Series

This isn’t the first time the One Button Games concept has landed on Xbox. Previous volumes have gradually built up a small catalogue of bite-sized arcade experiences.

Our reviews have covered several entries in the series already, including:

Each volume follows the same philosophy; that of quick arcade gameplay built around minimalist controls and score-chasing challenges.

Simplicity Meets Challenge

While the idea of a one-button game may sound basic, the real appeal lies in how creative developers can get with that single input.

With five new challenges to tackle, One Button Games 5-in-1 Vol. 5 continues that tradition, offering a collection of arcade-style experiences designed for quick bursts of gameplay.

The bundle is available now on Xbox Series X|S (optimised), Xbox One, or Windows PC, all through the usual Xbox Store download.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
