The last 12 months have been big for the tennis gaming scene, with a number of base point winning games appearing over the last few months. One of the bigger entries was that of Tennis World Tour, but if truth be told, the game failed to serve up many aces, instead playing passing shots out of play. But all that is set to change and with the Tennis World Tour Roland-Garros Edition on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch, one of the biggest names the world of tennis has ever seen will now be found within. Yep, that’s right, the one and only Rafael Nadal is breaking ranks and heading to Tennis World Tour.

Having previously been the headline star for Tennis World Tour’s main rival – that of the rather decent AO International TennisBigben and Break Point Studio have pulled one out of the bag to see Rafa Nadal and Kristina Mladenovic, a French player ranked amongst the top 50 in the world, arrive for matches on the clay courts of Roland-Garros.

Releasing on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC on May 23rd 2019, Tennis World Tour Roland-Garros Edition sees the tennis playing ranks swell to 33 real-life players, with Nadal’s looping forehand and unique serving experience accompanied by Mladenovic’s power.

Tennis World Tour Roland-Garros Edition also promises to provide an optimised playing experience and even more content, with a number of surfaces in play – especially the legendary clay courts of Roland-Garros. Let’s just hope it fares better than the original release, although the multitude of updates which have hit the game since then are certainly welcome.

Tennis World Tour Roland-Garros Edition follows up the original release of Tennis World Tour in 2018 to arrive as a complete game. Features include:

  • 32 of the world’s best players, including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Kristina Mladenovic and legends Andre Agassi and John McEnroe
  • Over 21 courts of every surface type, including the new main courts at Roland-Garros: Philippe-Chatrier, Suzanne-Lenglen and Simonne-Mathieu. Tennis World Tour Roland-Garros Edition gives players the chance to be the first to play on these courts in their finished state
  • The central court at the Mutua Madrid Open: “La Caja Magica”
  • A career mode that realistically simulates a player’s career, with training, matches, qualifications and more
  • A new customisation tool to create your own player from the ground up
  • An online mode with a Leaderboard and private matches

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
