Railway Routes is a grid-based puzzle game built around one simple objective – connect the tracks and guide every train safely to its destination.
Each level presents a fresh layout that asks players to think ahead, work around obstacles and make the most of the available space. While the early puzzles ease you into the mechanics, the challenge gradually increases as new ideas and complications are introduced.
Importantly, there’s rarely just one solution. Experimentation is encouraged, with unlimited retries and undo options allowing you to refine your designs until everything runs smoothly.
Railway Routes includes over 100 handcrafted levels, each designed around logic rather than reflexes. Expect to be given the chance to build efficient railway networks across grid-based maps, solve increasingly complex routing puzzles, and then fully optimise layouts using multiple possible solutions. Big Shoes To Fill
Fans of railway puzzlers may immediately think of the excellent Train Valley series, and it’s difficult not to make the comparison.
We’ve previously enjoyed both Train Valley: Console Edition, awarding it 4/5, before Train Valley 2: Community Edition raised the bar even further with an impressive 4.5/5 review. Those games combined deceptively simple mechanics with wonderfully addictive progression, becoming some of the strongest railway puzzlers available on Xbox.
Railway Routes certainly appears to occupy similar territory, albeit at a much lower price point. Whether it can reach those same heights remains to be seen, but puzzle fans looking for another trip along the tracks may well find plenty to enjoy.
