For years, the Rainbow Six name has been synonymous with tense firefights, careful planning and the knowledge that one wrong move can bring an operation crashing down. Now, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics is taking that familiar formula in a very different direction.
Revealed during Opening Night Live 2026, Rainbow Six Tactics is a new single-player, turn-based tactical game set in the wider Rainbow Six universe. It will put players in command of Team Rainbow, balancing big-picture decision-making at headquarters with high-stakes operations in the field.
And yes, walls are still there to be broken.

You Are In Command Of Team Rainbow
For the first time in the franchise, players take on the role of Six, commander of the Rainbow unit.
The experience moves between Rainbow headquarters and missions around the globe. At HQ, you’ll assess intelligence, choose which missions to tackle, select operators and develop the team’s wider capabilities. Once a squad is deployed, the action switches to turn-based encounters where every move, ability and gadget needs to be considered carefully.
Think of it as a game built around the strategic DNA of Rainbow Six, but from a completely different perspective.
Build The Right Team For The Job
Rainbow Six Tactics draws from a roster of 15 operators from Rainbow Six Siege, with players able to assemble squads of up to four.
Each operator comes with their own abilities, specialised equipment and skill trees, allowing players to experiment with different combinations depending on the mission ahead.
And there will apparently be plenty to consider. The campaign includes dozens of operations spread across locations around the world, with objectives ranging from hostage rescues and bomb disposal to target elimination.
Breaching Still Matters
It wouldn’t be Rainbow Six without finding creative ways through a wall.
Destructible environments play a key role in Rainbow Six Tactics, allowing players to create fresh lines of sight, remove enemy cover and open up alternative routes through an area.
The new Breach system looks to be one of the game’s most interesting ideas. While the rest of the experience is turn-based, breaching creates a decisive moment where the entire squad can act simultaneously, storming a new area and combining their abilities in one coordinated assault.
That should help give Rainbow Six Tactics some of the explosive energy associated with the series, even as the gameplay takes a more methodical approach.
Rainbow Six Tactics Is Coming To Xbox, PlayStation And PC
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will also be available through Ubisoft+, as well as GeForce Now and Blacknut.
There is no release date attached just yet, but wishlisting is already available across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Rainbow Six has always been about thinking before acting. Rainbow Six Tactics simply looks set to give players a little more time to do exactly that.
