Rally Arcade Classics – update time!

The service park is open, and your favourite retro racer just got a major tune-up.

Spanish independent developer NETK2GAMES today releases the Precision & Chase update for its arcade-themed rally game, Rally Arcade Classics.

This significant, free content update is available today for all players on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

This new update introduces a host of fan-requested features, including a full manual transmission mode and a revamped online high-score system, adding a new layer of precision and competition to the already brilliant retro experience.

Adding More Gears to a Fantastic Racer

We were huge fans of Rally Arcade Classics when it first launched back in July. In our 4/5 review, we called it “just good fun rally racing; super smooth as it goes,” and praised its “huge ‘one more go’ feel.

This new, free update is a fantastic addition that builds on those solid foundations, delivering on the promise of an accessible yet deep experience that caters to both casual arcade fans and hardcore simulation enthusiasts.

What’s New in the Precision & Chase Update?

This update is all about giving players more control and more ways to chase down the competition.

The headline feature is the implementation of a full manual transmission mode. This allows players to take complete control of their gear changes for a more precise and rewarding driving experience. To recognise this added challenge, the online leaderboards will now indicate whether a player achieved their best time in manual or automatic mode.

To support the new manual mode, the in-game interface has been updated with a new speedometer. This replaces the previous bar, and manual drivers will get a larger, more detailed interface to check their speed and revolutions, while automatic drivers will have a simpler element to consult.

The online leaderboards have been completely renewed too. A new friends list has been added, allowing you to follow up to 25 other drivers and track their high scores closely. The classification tables can now also be filtered by your global position, the top 10, and your friends list, making it easier than ever to see how you stack up.

A Word from the Developers

The team at NETK2GAMES has a deep passion for all eras of racing games.

We devoted two hard years to create this game with a passionate team and one goal: to combine elements from different eras of racing games and keep an accessible experience for both veteran and new fans of the genre,” said Salvador Casamiquela, co-founder at NETK2GAMES.

The stages are calling once again, and now you have more tools than ever to conquer them. With the addition of manual transmission and a deeper online leaderboard system, this is the perfect time to jump back into the driver’s seat.

To celebrate the update, Rally Arcade Classics is also on sale with a 50% discount for one week, making it an unmissable deal for any racing fan. Head over to the Xbox Store, Steam page, PlayStation Store, or Nintendo eShop to grab a download.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
