Ravenswatch Welcomes Merlin In Major New DLC Expansion

A keyart shot for the arrival of Merlin DLC in Ravenswatch.
Merlin Awakens In Ravenswatch With A Powerful New DLC Hero And Dark Arthurian Magic

The world of Ravenswatch continues to twist classic legends into something far darker, with Ravenswatch – Merlin now available as premium DLC across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation and PC.

Priced at £6.59, Nintendo Switch players won’t be left behind either, with Merlin joining the roster on January 28th.

Adding one of Arthurian legend’s most iconic figures, this DLC introduces a hero unlike any other in Ravenswatch, delivering unprecedented build depth, spell variety and tactical flexibility.

A Fallen Wizard Enters The Fray

Merlin’s arrival isn’t one of triumph, but tragedy. Once imprisoned in magical slumber by Viviane, the Lady of the Lake and his former love, the legendary sorcerer awakens stripped of his gift of clairvoyance. His foresight is gone, but his raw magical power remains intact.

Haunted by his past and desperate for answers, Merlin joins the Ravenswatch in the hope of uncovering the truth behind his imprisonment and helping to eradicate the Nightmare corrupting the world of Reverie.

A Spellcaster Like No Other

What truly sets Merlin apart is his sheer versatility. While other heroes wield three core abilities, Merlin can draw from nine different spells, divided across three magical disciplines.

  • Nature spells: summon colossal brambles, make it rain stars, or raise a stone shield that explodes on your enemies.
  • Arcane magic: cast lightning bolts through monsters, throw a fireball or unleash a frost orb that pursues your targets.
  • Sacred light: heal your wounds and those of your allies, blind your enemies and tear down their defences, or escape danger by teleporting away.

This freedom allows players to tailor Merlin to fit almost any playstyle, from crowd control specialist to high-risk damage dealer or battlefield support.

Power Runes And Deep Build Crafting

As Merlin fights, he generates Power Runes, a unique resource that enhances his spells once fully charged. When all runes are active, his next ability unleashes a significantly amplified effect, opening the door to devastating spell combinations.

Combined with four ultimate abilities, a wide talent pool and Ravenswatch’s existing item systems, Merlin offers one of the deepest build-crafting experiences the game has seen so far.

What’s Included In Ravenswatch – Merlin DLC

  • New playable hero: Merlin
  • Nine selectable spells across three magic schools
  • Unique Power Rune mechanic
  • Four ultimate abilities
  • Four unlockable in-game skins
  • Three exclusive premium skins:
    • Ravenswatch outfit
    • Nightmare outfit
    • Royal Counselor outfit

A Perfect Fit For Ravenswatch’s Dark Fantasy

In our 4.5/5 Ravenswatch review, we noted how its “engaging combat, diverse characters with unique abilities, and rewarding progression systems” made it easy to lose run after run to its addictive loop. Merlin fits seamlessly into that formula, expanding the tactical ceiling while reinforcing the game’s love of reimagined folklore.

His arrival also coincides with a broader free update, ensuring the entire experience continues to evolve for both solo players and co-op teams.

A Legendary Addition To An Ever-Growing Roster

With Ravenswatch – Merlin, Passtech Games and Nacon deliver more than just another hero, much like they did previously with the free Romeo & Juliet content. This is a DLC designed to challenge creativity, reward experimentation and deepen an already rich roguelike experience.

Whether you’re chasing the perfect build or simply eager to see how a fallen wizard fares against the Nightmare, Merlin’s arrival ensures Ravenswatch remains one of the most compelling dark fantasy roguelikes on the market.
