There was a time when Rayman sat comfortably alongside gaming’s biggest mascots, and this autumn Ubisoft is hoping to remind players exactly why. Rayman Legends Retold has officially been unveiled, bringing a fresh take on the beloved 2013 platformer to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, PC and cloud platforms on October 1st, 2026.
Announced during Sony’s State of Play showcase, this isn’t simply a remaster. Instead, Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are revisiting one of Rayman’s most celebrated adventures with upgraded visuals, new story content, additional realms to explore, and a host of gameplay enhancements designed for modern hardware.

A New Adventure In The Glade Of Dreams
While Rayman Legends Retold builds upon the foundations of the original game, Ubisoft is expanding the adventure with fresh content rather than simply polishing what already existed.
Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus and Murphy return as players attempt to save the Glade of Dreams from a mysterious new villain spreading chaos throughout the world. Alongside familiar locations and platforming challenges, players will be able to explore a completely new sixth realm featuring additional levels, secrets and boss encounters.
The Glade of Dreams itself has also been reimagined, with new characters to meet and fresh surprises tucked away throughout the world.
From there, returning fans can expect plenty of familiar faces and favourite stages, but Ubisoft is introducing several new features to justify the Retold name. Classic dragon-riding sections return, the Cave of Trials makes an appearance, and players can tackle four brand-new musical stages. The ever-popular Kung Foot mode is also back, complete with improved controls, power-ups and expanded customisation options.
Music remains a major focus too. An expanded soundtrack combines memorable themes from the original game with brand-new compositions from veteran composers Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope.

A Strong Time For Rayman Fans
The timing feels particularly fitting. Rayman has enjoyed something of a resurgence recently, including the release of Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition, which we awarded a strong 4/5 review score. As we noted at the time: “Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition proves to be the definitive port of the original with a few enhancements.“
Now Ubisoft is taking things a step further by revisiting what many fans consider the series’ finest hour.
Rayman Legends has long been regarded as one of the greatest platformers of its generation, and Retold looks set to introduce that experience to an entirely new audience while giving returning players plenty of reasons to revisit it.
With a new story, additional content, upgraded visuals and Rayman Origins bundled in for good measure, October 1st could be a very good day for fans of colourful, creative platforming.
