Judero
Judero – playing out on Xbox

Brought to life with an incredible handcrafted, stop-motion visual style, Judero has just arrived on the Xbox Store.

Inspired by the rich folk history of the Scottish Borders, Judero from Talha & Jack Co and NAISU, is now available exclusively on Xbox Series X|S for £14.99.

Prepare to travel through a beautiful and mysterious landscape, possess your enemies to gain new abilities, and uncover an evil that is manipulating the unguarded.

A Handcrafted World

What makes Judero so immediately striking is its unique visual presentation. The game is made from handcrafted objects and bespoke figurines, animated in the stop-motion tradition. And hopefully that means it plays like the brilliant Harold Halibut.

These real-life elements are then rendered into a 3D world, complete with digital techniques like real-time lighting and post-processing effects, to evoke a unique and nostalgic visual style. The cinematic cutscenes are also made using traditional stop-motion animation.

This is all accompanied by a musical score that is an homage to traditional British folk music, with acoustic instrumentation that is authentic to the originals.

A Tale from the Scottish Borders

In Judero, you play as the titular hero, a Celt who can establish a rapport with the nature around him. Your journey will take you through a handcrafted landscape as you discover that there is an evil at work, manipulating the unguarded people and creatures of the land.

You will need to strike and dodge your way through a myriad of foes, culminating in a series of exciting and unique boss challenges.

This is where the gameplay gets really interesting. Judero has the ability to take on the form of lesser creatures, which will greatly expand his abilities. You can use these enchanted minions not only in combat but also to solve a variety of puzzles.

The world of Judero is full of secrets and discoveries to find, from simple collectibles to whole optional storylines. You’ll discover the lore through a rich text system with branching dialogues, and the pace of the game is varied by a number of diverse mini-games, each with their own mechanics and visual styles.

Your Adventurer’s Satchel

Here’s what you can expect from this unique action-adventure:

  • Unique Stop-Motion Visual Style: Made from handcrafted objects and bespoke figurines, animated in the stop-motion tradition.
  • A Story Inspired by Scottish Folklore: Play as Judero, a Celt who can establish a rapport with nature.
  • Possess Your Enemies: Take on the form of lesser creatures to expand your abilities in combat and puzzle-solving.
  • Fast and Fluid Combat: Strike and dodge your way through a host of foes and unique boss challenges.
  • Rewarding Exploration: Discover many secrets, optional storylines, and diverse mini-games.

An ancient evil has been awoken, and a new hero is needed to stand against it. If you’re a fan of unique, artistic, and deeply atmospheric action-adventures, Judero is ready for you on Xbox Series X|S, via an Xbox Store download.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
