Without fanfare, Tarsier Studios has surprise launched The Prisoner, the first DLC for its acclaimed co-op horror adventure, giving players a fresh story, two new protagonists, and another unsettling journey through its twisted world.
Available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, REANIMAL: The Prisoner is the opening chapter of a planned trilogy of expansions.

A New Story Begins
Rather than revisiting the original adventure, The Prisoner introduces two entirely new playable characters – The Soldier and The Prisoner.
Set amidst the war-ravaged streets of a place that was once familiar, the pair must fight to survive as they’re drawn ever deeper into a nightmare that twists reality in ways only REANIMAL can. Their journey takes them into previously unseen corners of the game’s unsettling world, both on foot and through other means of travel, uncovering another dark thread in the wider story.
As ever with Tarsier Studios, the horror isn’t built purely on monsters. The setting itself tells its own disturbing tale, where the scars of war are only the beginning.
More Horrors Still To Come
The Prisoner marks the first of three planned REANIMAL DLC releases. And that means there is going to be plenty more of this unsettling universe still waiting to be explored.
Players who own the REANIMAL Season Pass can jump straight into the expansion at no additional cost, while the DLC is also available as a standalone purchase for those wanting to continue the story one chapter at a time. You’ll find it on the usual storefronts for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC. Expect to pay around £8.19.
With new characters, fresh locations and another slice of psychological horror, The Prisoner looks set to deepen both the world and the mysteries surrounding it.

This feels more mature, more epic, and, at times, much more terrifying. I would say that you should try not to get frustrated by the narrative; rather, let it wash over you and think about the many meanings it could conjure afterwards. And yes, whilst the core gameplay itself isn’t drastically different from what has come before, there are so many amazing set pieces that raise the bar once more. Visually and aurally, you won’t find a better-designed game, in my opinion.“
