Relooted – coming to Xbox and PC

Get ready for a heist game with a powerful purpose – Relooted is coming to Xbox and PC.

South African developer Nyamakop, the studio behind the puzzle-platformer Semblance, has revealed its ambitious new title: Relooted.

This “Africanfuturist” heist game sees players planning and parkouring their way through Western museums to reclaim real, looted African artifacts.

Announced with a stylish new trailer, Relooted is confirmed to be launching on PC and Xbox.

A Heist for History

The premise of Relooted is as compelling as it is timely.

Set near the end of the 21st century, diplomacy seemed to be working with the signing of the Transatlantic Returns Treaty, which promised the repatriation of African artifacts. That is, until a cynical loophole was exploited: when an amendment stipulated that only publicly displayed artifacts would be given back, museums began quietly removing these treasures from public view.

When diplomacy fails, it’s time to get creative. Players are tasked with a new, stealthier form of diplomacy: (re)looting 70 artifacts, all of which are based on real-life items of immense cultural, historical, and spiritual significance that were taken from their people.

Assemble Your Crew

It all starts with a troublesome little brother who gets you into all sorts of messes. But thankfully, as the protagonist Nomali, you’ll meet and recruit a more reliable crew of everyday citizens from different countries across Africa.

This isn’t a team of super spies; it’s a crew with normal careers, from the classic hacker to… your prim and proper grandma.

Every good heist has two parts: the plan and the getaway. First, you’ll case the joint, solving puzzles and strategically placing your unique teammates to prepare the perfect escape route. Once the stage is set, it’s time to perform. Plucking an artifact from its display starts a frantic countdown timer, and you’ll need to rely on Nomali’s flow-based parkour abilities to escape. The getaway should feel like the fun, montage part of a heist movie—but if you slacked on the planning phase, you’re going to pay for it!

An Africanfuturist Vision

Relooted is set within a vibrant Africanfuturist world, offering a unique vision of the future imagined through an African lens. Your crew’s hideout is based in a futuristic Johannesburg, grounding the game’s sci-fi elements in a real-world location and the developer’s own South African roots.

This is a chance to explore a setting rarely seen in video games, brought to life by a team with a distinct and authentic perspective.

Relooted is shaping up to be far more than just a stylish heist game; it’s a statement. It’s an empowering adventure that blends thrilling parkour action with a meaningful narrative about justice and cultural reclamation.

While no firm release date has been set, you can wishlist the game on Steam now and prepare to bring history back where it belongs when Relooted launches on PC and Xbox.
