Platypus Reclayed
Platypus Reclayed – out now!

One of the most iconic and visually unique indie shoot ’em ups of all time, a game that captured hearts with its incredible clay-animated art style, has been completely revamped and is returning to the skies today.

Platypus Reclayed, the definitive new version of the 2002 classic, has launched to the console and PC worlds. This stunning revamp from original creator Anthony Flack and the talented team at Claymatic Games is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Switch, PC, and Mac for £12.49.

This isn’t just a simple remaster; it’s a complete overhaul, reprogrammed from scratch with all-new 4K artwork, updated gameplay, new weapons, and a host of additional content.

A City in Chaos, a Legendary Fighter

The once-thriving metropolis of Collosatropolis is bursting at the seams. In a desperate move, it sets its sights on the neighbouring land of Mungola for expansion. But Mungola isn’t going down without a fight. In the heart of the land, a single squadron of fighter planes stands as the last line of defence – the legendary F-27 “Platypus”.

It’s up to you to pilot this antique aircraft and take on the mighty Collosatropolan battle fleet.

Check out the incredible clay-animated action in the launch trailer…

What’s New in Reclayed?

Platypus Reclayed takes everything that made the original and updates it for a modern audience. This new version includes:

  • High-definition clay artwork, with all-new models photographed in 4K widescreen.
  • A brand-new stage, with existing levels remixed for new surprises.
  • Additional enemies and weapons.
  • New adjustable difficulty options.
  • A bolstered soundtrack with high-quality remixes of classic 80s game tunes.
  • New game modes like Practice and the permadeath Score Attack mode.
  • Drop-in two-player simultaneous co-op!

As the original creator, Anthony Flack, says:

You don’t need to learn any complicated combos or absorb a bookish tutorial teaching how you can have fun later. Instead, you get right to the action. Platypus Reclayed is designed to be something you pick up for 20 minutes before bed or on your lunch break, but you enjoy every second of it!

One of September’s Most Anticipated

We’ve been keenly anticipating this beautiful indie revival for a little while now. We were so excited for its launch that we included it in our feature on the Xbox Best Games Coming to Console and Game Pass in September. Now, that day has finally arrived.

Key Features

  • A Complete Revamp of a 2002 Classic: Reprogrammed from scratch and updated for modern hardware.
  • Stunning Clay-Animated Graphics: Experience the beauty of clay-animation like never before with all-new high-definition artwork.
  • Addictive and Exciting Gameplay: A fast, frantic, and fun arcade-style shoot-em-up.
  • Two-Player Simultaneous Co-op: Team up with a friend for double the fun.
  • A Host of New Content: Including a new stage, remixed levels, new enemies, new weapons, and new game modes.
  • Bolstered Soundtrack: The original soundtrack is back with even more officially licensed remixes.

The battle for Mungola has begun, and a legendary fighter is needed once more. If you’re a fan of classic shoot ’em ups with a unique and beautiful art style, Platypus Reclayed is ready for you on the Xbox Store and other digital platforms right now.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
