The Frontier Feels Alive Again
There’s something quite nice about how this month’s update shifts the focus. Instead of chasing deliveries or grinding out loops, it nudges us back into the wilderness.
The Naturalist role is where the real value sits. Whether you’re working alongside Harriet Davenport to catalogue animals or taking a more ruthless approach with Gus Macmillan, the rewards are hard to ignore.
Triple payouts on Sample Sales make it all feel worthwhile, while the boosted Free Roam events mean you’re earning decent cash just by getting involved.
And whilst it would be easy to overlook the racing side of things, this might be where the smartest players spend their time. With 4X RDO$, Gold, and XP on offer, races are paying out far better than usual. Even if you’re not the competitive type, just taking part nets solid rewards, and finishing in the top three bags you the returning Ruby Buckle as a bonus.
The rotating Featured Series keeps things ticking over too, swapping modes week to week so it never feels stuck in one lane.
Plenty Of Reasons To Log In
Rockstar hasn’t skimped on the extras either. There’s a steady drip of free items just for playing – from ponchos to coats to a slightly ridiculous Chicken Emote.
On top of that, the discounts are pretty generous. Horses, gear, weapons – it’s all been given a bit of a price cut, which makes this a good time to upgrade without feeling like you’re burning through cash.
A Nice Change Of Pace
This update follows on from the previous focus on Traders and fishing, and it’s a noticeable shift in tone. Where that one was all about steady, methodical income, this feels more relaxed. You’re encouraged to roam, take in the world, and pick your activities as you go.
It suits Red Dead Online quite well, actually.
If you’ve drifted away, this is the kind of update that makes returning easy. And if you’re already playing, you’ll probably find yourself earning more than usual without really trying.
