The Precinct – release date fully confirmed!

The wait is almost over, officers! Kwalee and developer Fallen Tree Games have officially announced the release date for the eagerly awaited neon-noir action sandbox police game, The Precinct.

And you’ll want to mark your calendars, because you’ll be hitting the streets of Averno City on May 13th 2025, when the game launches on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).

The Precinct has been high on our watchlist since its reveal, blending police simulation with thrilling open-world sandbox action, all wrapped up in a gritty 1980s aesthetic.

We previously covered the game’s reveal trailer and the announcement of its physical editions, and the anticipation has only grown. Now, we finally know when we can step into the boots of rookie officer Nick Cordell Jr.

Welcome to Averno City, 1983

You are Nick Cordell Jr., fresh out of the Academy and thrown onto the front lines of a city teetering on the edge. Averno City is plagued by warring gangs, urban decay, and whispers of police corruption. As a beat cop, you’ll patrol the streets, responding to everything from parking violations and street races to bank heists and drug deals.

It’s your job to protect the citizens while also investigating the mystery surrounding your father’s murder in the line of duty.

Sandbox Action Meets Police Procedure

The Precinct aims to be a love letter to classic cop movies. You’ll engage in intense vehicle chases – both in squad cars and helicopters – through destructible environments. Feel free to call for backup; an in-depth support system lets you request roadblocks, spike strips, and additional units to help bring perps to justice.

Explore the city’s diverse districts, from the Projects to the Financial District, dealing with its inhabitants and chasing criminals through neon-lit alleys and rain-soaked streets, all under a dynamic day/night cycle and weather system.

The development team is clearly thrilled to be nearing the finish line. “We’re so excited to finally share our work with the fans! Their support has been amazing, and we truly appreciate their patience as we worked on The Precinct to deliver the best possible experience. We can’t wait to see their reactions when they finally get to play the game,” said Lewis Boadle, Art Director at Fallen Tree Games.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
