The House of the Dead 2 Remake
The House of the Dead 2 Remake

The long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed remake has finally reloaded and burst onto the scene, bringing with it a whole new level of undead chaos.

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake, the new title from developer MegaPixel Studio has launched today. This faithful recreation of the 2000 arcade classic from publisher Forever Entertainment is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC for ÂŁ20.99.

Prepare to join two AMS agents as they investigate a city overrun by hostile creatures, in a game that brings modern graphics and new modes to one of the most beloved on-rails shooters of all time.

Following a 4/5 Remake

We’ve been eagerly awaiting this sequel, as we were huge fans of the first game in this new remake series. In our 4/5 review of THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake, we said it “updates the classic for a new generation” and concluded that it was “the best way to play the game, unless you know where one of those old arcade cabinets is stashed.

With the same team behind this new entry, expectations are incredibly high.

A Trip Back to 2000

The story of THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake kicks off in February 2000, almost two years after the events of the first installment. A small city is suddenly overrun by hostile creatures, and two AMS agents, James Taylor and Gary Stewart, are sent to investigate. Upon arrival, they notice the situation is eerily similar to the Curien Mansion incident, and they must begin shooting their way through hordes of creatures to uncover the source of the infestation.

Faithful to the Original

This is a game that is built on the foundation of what made the original so great. It features gameplay that is faithful to the arcade classic, including the beloved co-op mode, the cheesy dialogue, and the famous multiple endings and branching levels that made every playthrough unique.

On top of the Classic Campaign, this remake also includes a host of new modes to test your skills:

  • Boss Mode: Take on the challenge of defeating the bosses from the game as fast as you can.
  • Training Mode: Polish your skills in several available training scenarios to improve your abilities before deploying on a mission.

The game has been given a full graphical overhaul, with modern graphics that bring the classic environments to life like never before. The game also features a remastered soundtrack, with the classic soundtrack also available for those who want the pure, nostalgic experience.

The Bundle of The Dead

For those who are new to the series or want the complete collection, The Bundle of The Dead is also available for ÂŁ29.24. This fantastic package combines both THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake and THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake in one great value bundle.

Your Arsenal

Here’s what you can expect from this new arcade shooter:

  • A Full Remake of the 2000 Arcade Classic.
  • Modern Graphics and Remastered Music (with the option to use the classic soundtrack).
  • Gameplay Faithful to the Original (including co-op mode, multiple endings, and branching levels).
  • New Game Modes: Including Boss Mode and Training Mode.
  • A Great Value Bundle that includes the first remake.

The arcade is calling, and the undead horde is waiting. If you’re a fan of classic on-rails shooters and are ready to take on a challenge that is as fun as it is cheesy, THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake is ready for you on the Xbox Store right now, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You’ll find it on PlayStation, Switch and PC too.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
