The Remothered series is preparing for a big comeback. While fans are already looking ahead to Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy later this year, developer Stormind Games has now confirmed that the franchise’s first two entries are also returning in fully remastered form.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers Remastered and Remothered: Broken Porcelain Remastered have both been announced, with the psychological survival horror duo rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 for modern platforms. While release dates are still under wraps, both remasters promise substantial visual and technical upgrades without changing the gameplay or atmosphere that helped establish the series.
At A Glance
- Games: Remothered: Tormented Fathers Remastered & Remothered: Broken Porcelain Remastered
- Developer: Stormind Games
- Engine: Unreal Engine 5
- Release: TBA
Two Survival Horror Classics Rebuilt For Modern Hardware
Rather than reinventing the originals, Stormind Games is focusing on refining them. Both remasters have been rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5, bringing with them modern rendering technology while preserving the gameplay, pacing and psychological horror that defined the original releases.
Players can expect:
- Unreal Engine 5 visuals
- Lumen-powered dynamic lighting
- 4K textures and Nanite-enhanced environments
- Improved character models
- Redesigned user interface and menus
- Updated cinematic sequences
- Legacy bug fixes
- General stability and gameplay improvements
The aim is to deliver a more polished experience without losing the identity that made the games stand out among modern survival horror titles.
Revisiting Two Disturbing Nightmares
The remasters revisit the opening chapters of Stormind’s horror saga.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers Remastered once again follows Rosemary Reed as she investigates the unsettling mysteries hidden within the infamous Felton mansion, while Remothered: Broken Porcelain Remastered returns players to the eerie Ashmann Inn, expanding the wider mythology that connects the series.
With Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy already confirmed as the long-awaited third chapter, the timing makes perfect sense. Newcomers will soon be able to experience the entire story with a much more modern presentation before the trilogy reaches its conclusion.
Stormind Games CEO and Co-Founder Antonio Cannata said: “Remothered is a franchise we continue to deeply believe in. After confirming that a new chapter will arrive later this year, these Remastered editions represent another step in our commitment to this universe and to the community that has supported it over the years. We want to keep strengthening the franchise by honoring its past while building its future.“
A Chance To Polish Two Cult Horror Games
The announcement could prove especially welcome for players who felt the original releases were occasionally held back by technical issues.
When we reviewed Remothered: Tormented Fathers, we praised its horror foundations but noted that “the essence of a quality horror story” was sometimes overshadowed by awkward movement mechanics and audio issues.
Similarly, our Remothered: Broken Porcelain review highlighted its creepy atmosphere and stealth systems, while pointing out that bugs prevented it from fully reaching its potential.
With Unreal Engine 5 powering both remasters and Stormind specifically highlighting legacy bug fixes and stability improvements, these new editions look set to address many of those longstanding criticisms.
Building Towards Red Nun’s Legacy
This announcement also keeps momentum building for the future of the franchise.
Stormind Games recently revealed Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, which will finally continue the series later this year. Bringing the opening two chapters up to modern technical standards should give both returning fans and newcomers the perfect opportunity to revisit the story before the next instalment arrives.
More details on Remothered: Tormented Fathers Remastered and Remothered: Broken Porcelain Remastered are expected in the months ahead, but we should be seeing them release on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC.
