Resident Evil Requiem Leon Must Die Forever – now playable

Just when it felt like Resident Evil Requiem had already thrown everything possible at players, Capcom has gone and added another reason to head back into the nightmare – LEON MUST DIE FOREVER.

Available right now as a free update across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, the newly added LEON MUST DIE FOREVER mode cranks the action dial to ridiculous levels, putting legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy front and centre in a brutal race against the clock.

At A Glance

  • New Mode: LEON MUST DIE FOREVER
  • Available Now: Yes, free update
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PC
  • Unlock Requirement: Complete the main story

Leon’s Nightmare Gets Even More Intense

Unlike the slower survival horror pacing found throughout much of Resident Evil Requiem’s main campaign, LEON MUST DIE FOREVER is all about combat, replayability and speed.

Once unlocked after completing the story, players are thrown back through familiar locations from the campaign, but this time things are considerably nastier. Enemies hit harder, tougher variants appear throughout each area and every run becomes a frantic battle against the timer.

The mode includes five escalating difficulty ranks, alongside randomised progression systems that alter both the order of areas and the enhancement abilities Leon can unlock during each attempt.

Enhancer Abilities Shake Up Every Run

One of the more interesting additions comes through Leon’s exclusive enhancer abilities, which can be unlocked by filling a combat gauge during each run.

Defeating enemies allows players to trigger special boosts and upgrades, giving Leon access to stronger combat options as the challenge escalates.

Because those upgrades vary from run to run, no two attempts should play out exactly the same way. Combined with shuffled area progression, Capcom appears to be aiming for something with proper replay value rather than a simple one-and-done side activity.

More Resident Evil Requiem Content Arrives Too

The update also introduces several platform-wide bug fixes, while PC players now gain support for DualSense adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and motion controls.

Capcom has additionally revealed a fresh wave of Resident Evil Requiem merchandise themed around LEON MUST DIE FOREVER, including hoodies, sweatshirts and shirts.

And there’s more coming soon beyond the game itself. The first Resident Evil amiibo figures are scheduled to launch on July 30th, featuring both Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy.

Requiem Continues Its Huge Success

Resident Evil Requiem has already become one of the biggest launches in franchise history, with Capcom confirming the game has now sold more than six million copies worldwide.

That success certainly hasn’t surprised us. In our 5/5 review of Resident Evil Requiem, we called it: “A pitch perfect love letter to fans of the series.” We also praised the game’s dual protagonist structure, storytelling and atmosphere, describing it as: “An absolute tour de force.”

Now, with LEON MUST DIE FOREVER adding another slice of replayable chaos into the mix, it looks like Capcom isn’t quite finished with Raccoon City yet.

If you don’t yet have a copy of Resident Evil Requiem, pick it up from the likes of the Xbox Store.
