It has been revealed today that 1C Entertainment and 3D Realms are collaborating to co-publish an old school FPS and bring it to major consoles in the form of Ion Maiden. It’s expected to be a true successor to the classic shooters such as Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior and Blood.
Ion Maiden, developed by Voidpoint, places us in the role of Shelly ‘Bombshell’ Harrison, who normally defuses bombs for the Global Defence Force but must now start causing explosions and havoc in order to stop Dr. Jadus Heskel and his cybernetic cult. Shelly will leave a whole load of carnage throughout the multi-path levels full of inhuman foes lying in wait. Running and gunning is the only way to approach the task at hand as you manage her health, which doesn’t regenerate.
To aid in the decimation of the enemy, Shelly has an awe-inspiring arsenal of devastating weapons to wield, including revolvers, grenade launchers and heat-seeing smart bombs. And despite the classic vibe, there are modern ideas infused within Ion Maiden, such as autosaves, headshots and seamless level transitions.
“Presenting games like Ion Maiden to all of 3D Realms’ fans is our number one priority,” said Mike Nielsen, CEO of 3D Realms. “Partnering with 1C Entertainment means we can make our dedicated community happier by bringing Shelly to consoles.”
“I was always a fan of the old-school classic FPS titles Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Max Payne and Shadow Warrior, so I am super thrilled to partner with a legendary studio such as 3D Realms,” said Nikolay Baryshnikov, CEO of 1C Entertainment. “As a global publisher, our goal is to bring top-quality titles to all the gamers around the world, and our cooperation with 3D Realms is a great addition to our portfolio. For me personally, it’s a kid’s dream come true.”
Voidpoint, 1C Entertainment and 3D Realms are expecting to bring Ion Maiden to Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 in Q2 2019!
