Can’t think of anything better than heading back a few decades to take in a tactical turn-based experience? Tactics V: “Obsidian Brigade” is something you really should be taking in.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, Tactics V: “Obsidian Brigade” comes about via the development team at From Nothing Games as gaming goes retro and players are given the opportunity to take in a new, old, tactical turn based affair.

Coming in at a price of £20.99 on Xbox One, with that initial price discounted down to £16.79, Tactics V: Obsidian Brigade has been inspired by the most famous RPGs from the 1990s, providing a fantasy setting, a ton of lore, and even more magic.

The team at From Nothing Games have spent time creating a combat system that promises to be utterly robust, with deep world map navigation and no less than 50 hand crafted levels included. This means for your £20 you’ll get access to something upwards of 25 hours of gameplay, including a New Game Plus option, as you go about spending time with the 13 unlockable classes, the 50 skills, the 80 scripted battles and the 140 special powers. Yep, 140! Not bad, eh.

An optional cooperative element brings even more delights and this all combines to allow Tactics V: “Obsidian Brigade” to provide the goods for fans of retro gaming and turn-based battling.

If you wish to give it a go then you’ll need to head to the usual digital stores and get a download in. The Xbox Store will sort out the Xbox One gamers, whilst our friends over on the PS4 will need to make their way to the PlayStation Store. Nintendo Switch players will find the Nintendo eShop a provider of gifts, whilst Tactics V is also available on PC.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
