Return to hell with Zombie Army 4: Dead War’s new free and paid season of terror

zombie army 4 return to hell dlc

You don’t need us to tell you how good Zombie Army 4: Dead War already was upon first release, and really we shouldn’t need to explain just how well the plethora of additional content drops has only enhanced that base game. What we will tell you though is that Rebellion aren’t done yet and right now it’s time to usher in a new season of terror as Zombie Army 4: Dead War delivers its biggest campaign mission yet with the launch of free and paid DLC through Season 3 and Terminal Error. Are you ready to Return to Hell?

Available from today for Zombie Army 4: Dead War players to utterly embrace, Return to Hell is the latest three-part campaign add-on for Rebellion’s zombie killing masterpiece, giving players access to a whole new story-focused mission structure, along with a host of additional outfits, packs, weapons and charms. And there’s some free content thrown in too!

Season 3 is all about returning to hell and that kicks off with the first of three missions in the form of Terminal Error. This focuses on a horrifying transmission which leads you – and your deadhunting friends – to a mysterious derelict base that is situated on the Italian coast. From there, the usual Zombie Army 4 madness unfolds as you work your way through a huge open-ended level, all in order to put a stop to the sinister machinations that are found lurking in the shadows.

If past history and content additions are anything to go by, chances are that Rebellion and the teams at Flix Interactive and Radical Forge would have nailed exactly what is needed once again here. Should you have a copy of Zombie Army 4 to hand and think that the Season Three content is something you will have fun working through, get over to your favoured digital store – Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, Stadia Store or wherever you get your PC fix, and grab the new season right now. Season Pass 3 (£29.99) will probably be your best bet, but you’ll find that Terminal Error – the first of the missions – is available for £5.59 too.

But that’s not the only reason you’ll want to head back in to Zombie Army 4: Dead War, for as is now standard, the arrival of this new season also sees further content drop. In fact, should you wish to grab it, all of the following are available today…

  • Terminal Error
  • Undercover Marie Outfit
  • Zombie Headgear Pack
  • MI934 Pistol Bundle
  • Elemental Weapon Skins
  • Zombie Charm Pack

Oh, but things don’t stop there and there’s some free content to enjoy too – the Nightmare Mode and new Horde Mode Map.

Are you resilient enough to withstand all manner of necrotic onslaught? Does the terrifying power of Hitler’s Nazi zombie army not send your blood curdling? Well, deadhunter, you haven’t seen Nightmare Mode. Nightmare Mode looks to put you in your place – a dark, devastating place – as it offers up a new distribution of enemies throughout the entire campaign, and much tougher combinations to deal with. This should well mean that Nightmare Mode is the ultimate Zombie Army 4 challenge for 1-2 players and it is available for free – right now, as long as you have completed the main campaign.

There is more too though and Frozen in Fear is the chilling new Horde Mode Map that’s sure to send a shiver up your spine. It’s also available now for free, as is a new voice selection feature for all playable characters – you can now choose any voice for any character when selecting them, regardless of gender.

So what are you waiting for? Go and grab your fellow deadhunters and involve yourself in some zombie takedowns once more. There is always a reason to Return to Hell!

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised), Google Stadia, PS4, PS5 and PC.
