Head back to Generation Zero with the Skyfire update

The world of Generation Zero has been blessing Xbox gamers for over five years now, yet the content train steams on. Set within Osterstorn, Sweden, during a Cold War-esque time of tension and fear, you are attempting to take down a suite of dangerous mechs, ideally without getting yourself blown-apart in the process.

The free Skyfire Update is the latest to come to the game.

Enter, The Vulture!

Available today as a free update to those playing on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, Generation Zero’s Skyfire Update primarily focuses on those that have progressed a large part through the game, and are looking to move onto endgame content.

The Vulture is a truly terrifying new endgame boss – an evolved Firebird mech part of the Tyrant class. To take the Vulture down, you’ll need all of your wits and weapons about you; the ability to bring in up to three online multiplayer buddies will come in useful.

Whether you prefer bombastic fighting or considered stealth, the introduction of Companion Armor Kits will be well-received, allowing you to heal Companions on the go, whilst the new Meusser Hunting Rifle brings laser beam-based fire to proceedings. That one seems a bit less on the stealthy end, if you ask us!

Key Features

  • New Endgame Boss: Face off against the terrifying Vulture, a new Tyrant class enemy in the form of an evolved Firebird. Arm yourself with your best equipment and rally your allies to defeat this menacing new foe.
  • Companion Armor Field Repair: Companion Armor Kits can soon be equipped into your weapon wheel and thrown onto Companions. This new feature allows players to repair or re-kit their Companions on the go, increasing the Companion’s versatility and the length of excursions without needing to return to a safehouse.
  • New Weapon & Augmentations: The new Meusser Hunting Rifle fires a chemical laser beam that can set the ground around the player on fire. New weapon augmentations will also be added that require defeating Tyrants to unlock.
  • Revamped Tyrant Spawning System & More: Players can now discover Tyrant locations after defeating Rival machines, gathering Coordinate Keys, and entering them into Tyrant Terminals located in base assault bases. Tyrant progression will also be updated, along with fixes to machine detection.

Jump Back In!

There’s no better time to return to, or experience from new, the world of Generation Zero, with the introduction of the free Skyfire Update.

The base game is available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One for £24.99 (find it over on the Xbox Store), but also comes part of both Xbox and PC Game Pass. Alternatively, the game is available on PS5 and PS4.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
