A New Spin On The Walking Dead Universe
While The Walking Dead has inspired everything from narrative adventures to survival experiences over the years, Streets of Survival looks set to embrace a more old-school approach.
The game revisits the explosive All-Out War storyline that saw Rick Grimes and his allies take the fight directly to Negan and the Saviors. Rather than focusing on stealth or resource management, players will battle their way through waves of enemies in classic side-scrolling fashion, combining melee attacks, ranged weapons, and devastating finishing moves.
The result appears to be a love letter to both arcade beat ’em ups and long-time fans of AMC’s hugely popular television adaptation.
Familiar Faces, Familiar Weapons
Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne are all confirmed, each bringing their signature weapons and fighting styles into battle. Whether you’re blasting through enemies with Rick’s trusty magnum, slicing apart walker hordes with Michonne’s katana, or picking off threats using Daryl’s crossbow, every character is designed to feel distinct.
Beyond the heroes themselves, players will also travel through recognisable locations pulled directly from the television series, including Alexandria, Hilltop, and the Sanctuary.
Combined with dynamic set pieces and story-driven encounters, the game aims to recreate some of the most memorable moments from The Walking Dead in a fresh and interactive way.
Walkers, Saviors And Boss Battles Await
Of course, it wouldn’t be The Walking Dead without overwhelming odds.
Throughout the campaign, players will face massive walker swarms alongside human enemies from Negan’s ranks. According to the developers, encounters are designed to constantly evolve, forcing players to adapt as new threats emerge.
The challenge doesn’t stop there either. Streets of Survival will feature a selection of boss encounters inspired by some of the franchise’s most memorable adversaries. That includes fan-recognised walkers such as Winslow and the infamous Well Walker, while Negan and Simon will headline a series of multi-stage battles that promise to test players’ skills.
A Different Kind Of Apocalypse
The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival may not be the adaptation many expected, but it certainly stands out from previous games based on the franchise. By combining beloved characters, retro-inspired visuals, and satisfying beat ’em up action, TRAILMARK Games is delivering a fresh take on AMC’s zombie universe.
With a demo already available on Steam and a full release planned for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, fans won’t have to wait too long to see whether they can survive the apocalypse one punch, slash, and headshot at a time.
