Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection – on Xbox, PlayStation, PC

The Monster Hunter universe expands once more, but this time the adventure focuses less on hunting and more on bonding with the creatures themselves.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection has now launched on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, bringing a new RPG chapter to CAPCOM’s long-running monster-filled world.

Priced at £54.99, the third entry in the Monster Hunter Stories series continues the spin-off RPG line where players take on the role of a Monster Rider, forming bonds with powerful monsters rather than simply tracking them down.

And this time, the stakes are higher than ever, with a mysterious pair of Rathalos at the heart of a looming global conflict.

A New Story In The Monster Hunter World

Set within the wider Monster Hunter universe, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection tells a darker tale than previous entries.

The story unfolds across two nations, Azuria and Vermeil, countries now standing on the brink of destruction. With hope fading and ecosystems collapsing, a mysterious egg is discovered. Inside lies something thought impossible: a Rathalos, a species long believed extinct.

But the miracle quickly becomes something far more unsettling.

Instead of a single creature, the egg produces twin Rathalos, both bearing the rare Skyscale marking. This symbol echoes a devastating civil war from two centuries earlier, suggesting history may be about to repeat itself.

Caught in the middle of rising tensions, a Rider and their Rathalos companion must set out to uncover the truth behind the twins – and the fate of a world on the edge of collapse.

Ride, Raise And Battle With Monsters

Unlike the core Monster Hunter games, the Stories series focuses on building bonds with monsters.

Players become Riders, raising creatures known as Monsties and fighting alongside them in combat. Each battle relies on strategy, elemental strengths and careful timing rather than the real-time action the main series is known for.

This RPG approach allows players to experiment with monster combinations, abilities and team setups as they progress through the adventure.

As the story unfolds, your Rider and Monsties grow stronger, unlocking new abilities and strategies that can turn the tide in tougher encounters.

A Strong Entry In The Stories Series

We’ve already spent time with the game and found plenty to like. In our 4/5 review, we noted how the third entry refines the formula in meaningful ways.

And it’s these tweaks that ensure Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection feels just like a turn-based Monster Hunter game. For the first time in the Stories series, they’ve nailed the feeling of every fight feeling like a boss battle.

You’ll also find Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection featured in our Best New Xbox and Game Pass Games for March 2026 list, making it one of the standout RPG releases this month.
