Cast your mind back to the tail-end of 2021 and you may remember a title from Ubisoft by the name of Riders Republic. Cast your mind back even further, and I’m sure many are familiar with EA’s SSX series of snowboarding and skiing experiences. Shredders is Foampunch’s iteration of all things snowboarding, and it looks very promising indeed.
Arriving today on Xbox Series X|S (via Game Pass as a day-one launch, might I add), and PC platforms, Shredders heads down the Skate route by setting you up as a goofy snowboarder looking to make the sickest showreel you can muster, gaining sponsorships from the biggest names in the snowboarding franchise. In a similar vein, you’ll be riding alongside some of the most notable figures in the real-world scene: Jamie Anderson and Kevin Backstrom stick out as some of the famous faces involved.
Across a number of snowboarding parks and huge snowy vistas to take in, you have ultimate control of your board when it comes to fine-tuning your tricks and combos. Whether it is carving, grinding, buttering, grabbing or (*insert another snowboarding term here*), Foampunch is keen to emphasise the fine control you have when in the air. And you’ll need it too, as some of the terrains you must tackle can be terribly tricky.
Of course, the Shredders experience would only be half-full if it wasn’t for the inclusion of online multiplayer, so the opportunity to shoot down hills and pull off the best of tricks alongside friends won’t be a missed one.
Shredders is now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC – check out the Xbox Store listing here and pick up a copy for £24.99, but remember the game is also available to those of you with Game Pass on Xbox & PC.
See you out there on the snow!
Break into the snowboarding event of the year in the hope of scoring a wildcard entry to an exclusive invitational. To prove you’re up to the challenge, master the art of park riding, buttering, rails and massive kickers and earn your place in the world of snowboarding. While making another goofball video at the Frozen Wood resort, brand ambassador Lisa makes an offer for a couple of sponsored videos. She gives you a glimpse of a whole new world of snowboarding, professional riders, snowmobiles, and epic features to shred. An invitational has attracted a whole bunch of pro-riders to the area, and with Lisa’s help you have a chance to meet some of them, learn a bunch of their moves, and possibly even get a chance to join them in the kick ass invitational. A love letter to snowboarding, Shredders takes inspiration from a whole bunch of awesome snowboarding films, the Amped games from the original Xbox, and the snowboarding heroes on Instagram. Shredders is a project fed by passion and built to shine on Xbox Series X|S.
