Road Defense Outsiders – now on

Combining roguelike elements with tower defense mechanics, Road Defense: Outsiders tasks you with one sole focus – annihilation of life.

From QUByte Interactive, as they pick up the creation of Minicactus Games, Road Defense: Outsiders releases on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also on PC, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch if you so prefer.

Combining features

It’s priced at £4.19 on the Xbox Store (expect similar elsewhere) and should well be of appeal to anyone looking to scratch a tower defense itch. Consider the roguelike nature and it will allow for plenty of replayability too. Bring those two elements together and you’ll discover a game that tasks you with running protection of a road, ensuring safe travel for all vehicles on it.

The problem? Well, hordes of enemies… Obvs.

Strategic planning will be a key feature to any success, as you plan your tower placements and focus on the escorting of various vehicles. Get those cars to their destination and you’ll be well rewarded, taking that cash and upgrading your gear, equipment and towers. You know the drill – rinse, repeat, forevermore.

Key features

  • High-speed, frenetic combat
  • Retro pixel art visuals
  • Leveling system and skill upgrades
  • Tower defense and strategy mechanics
  • High replayability
  • Customization of equipment and towers

Get involved with Road Defense: Outsiders

You can buy Road Defense: Outsiders from the Xbox Store, playing on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S right now. It should also be on the stores of PC (Steam), PlayStation and Switch too.

Keep the old eyes peeled for our review soon.

Road Defense: Outsiders Description

Road Defense: Outsiders is a game that combines elements of the ‘roguelike’ and ‘tower defense’ genres. Upgrade the towers and your own skills to be able to annihilate all the life around you!

During the game, every time a driver reaches the end of the road, he pays a fee. Well, maybe this is not completely legal, but use the money received to buy new weapons for the towers or upgrade the ones already installed.

This money received from the drivers is not going to solve all your problems, and if you depended on it alone, you would already be dead. For this reason, each enemy killed can release an orb that raises your experience bar. Every time this experience bar fills up, you level up and can temporarily improve your skills. In this way, the more enemies you kill during a wave, the more orbs you collect and the stronger you get.

Not everything may go as planned and sooner or later you will end up being killed by these gangs. When this happens, don’t despair, because the total number of enemies you have killed during the match is also converted into money! And it is at this point that you can improve your skills permanently, starting the next match stronger and with more advantages.
