Rogue Reigns – dealing this October

There are plenty of deckbuilding games out there, but Rogue Reigns is looking to shuffle things around by putting an entire party at the centre of every run.

Now, developer Venn Studios has confirmed exactly when players will be able to get stuck in, with the dark fantasy deckbuilder launching on October 28th, 2026.

And if that feels like too long to wait, a Steam playtest is also running from today, August 27th through September 3rd, giving PC players the chance to get an early look at the strategic roguelike.

At a Glance

  • Rogue Reigns launches October 28th, 2026
  • Coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, iOS and Android
  • Players control a party of three heroes, each with their own deck
  • Character synergies and party composition are key to surviving each run

Three Heroes, Three Decks, One Party

The big idea behind Rogue Reigns is that you’re not building around a single hero. Instead, players control three characters simultaneously, with each bringing their own deck, abilities and role to the battlefield.

Success will come from understanding how those heroes work together. Different character combinations, evolving encounters and limited rewards will force players to make strategic decisions throughout each run, while more than ten party compositions are planned for launch.

The game will also feature procedural 3D worlds, hand-drawn character designs and something known as The Stalker – an unseen presence that hunts the party across the map, with the world beginning to react before the threat reveals itself.

A Deckbuilder Built by Deckbuilder Fans

Venn Studios has an interesting route into game development. Before creating Rogue Reigns, the SĂŁo Paulo-based team built a sizeable following through its YouTube channel, where it spent years discussing deckbuilders, game design and the systems that make the genre tick.

That experience has fed directly into Rogue Reigns, with the studio using player feedback from playtests and events to help shape the game ahead of release.

The upcoming Steam playtest should offer another opportunity for players to get involved, testing out party composition, combat, synergies and the choices that can dramatically alter the direction of a run.

“We’ve spent years studying what makes deckbuilders compelling and listening closely to the community around the genre,” said Hugo Neri, CEO of Venn Studios. “With Rogue Reigns, we wanted to build an experience where the entire party matters, every decision can change the course of a run, and players are constantly discovering new combinations and strategies. The upcoming playtest is an important opportunity for us to bring that experience to more players and continue refining the game ahead of launch.”

Rogue Reigns Is Ready to Play

The Steam playtest runs for one week, now until September 3, before Rogue Reigns launches in full on October 28th, 2026.

When it arrives, Rogue Reigns will be available on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS and Android.

With three heroes to manage instead of one, a focus on party chemistry and plenty of ways to build each run differently, Rogue Reigns looks set to bring a slightly different hand to the increasingly busy deckbuilding table.
