Submarine Survivor – available now on console

Prepare to plunge into the abyss and battle for your life in Submarine Survivor!

Submarine Survivor, an action-packed roguelike shoot ’em up, has surfaced today on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

Developed by The Bat Flight in collaboration with Eastasiasoft, this challenging underwater adventure is available for the wallet-friendly price of ÂŁ4.19 (currently submerged to a mere ÂŁ3.35 thanks to a launch discount!).

As you face the blue unknown, you’ll need to upgrade your submarines with a variety of weapons and chips, collect experience crystals, and fend off waves of fearsome sea creatures to truly become the Lord of the Ocean.

Explore, Upgrade, Survive the Depths

Submarine Survivor blends exploration with highly customisable combat across 2D maps packed with mission nodes. Your survival hinges on:

  • Fending Off Waves: Use your varied submarine weaponry efficiently to fend off dangerous creatures and enemy mods.
  • Completing Objectives: Navigate the map, completing objectives at various nodes to reach new areas and ultimately, a blood-pumping boss fight.
  • Strategic Upgrades: The roguelike core means every run offers new opportunities. Unlock and upgrade new submarine types, choose new equipment from your crafted items, select powerful passive skills through research, and strategise on-the-fly with the weapons and chips you discover.

Customise Your Challenge

Beyond the core gameplay loop, Submarine Survivor allows you to tailor your deep-sea escapades. Adjust difficulty with modifiers that change how the game is played, ensuring a fresh experience whether you’re a seasoned submariner or a rookie diver.

With each run, you’ll gather resources, earn passive upgrades, and build out your fleet of unlockable submarine models, always living to explore another day. Think of it like Vampire Survivors, just a lot wetter…

This marks another intriguing budget release from Eastasiasoft, who just last week brought us the retro isometric shooter Blazing Trail. Submarine Survivor continues their trend of delivering diverse, accessible indie experiences to console players. And frankly, we love them for it.

Key Features

  • Roguelike Submarine Action: Explore 2D maps, complete objectives, and survive enemy waves.
  • Deep Customisation: Unlock and upgrade new submarine types, weapons, and chips.
  • Strategic Combat: Choose equipment, passive skills, and weapons wisely to fend off creatures.
  • Boss Battles: Take down big bosses to assert your dominance.
  • Adjustable Difficulty: Customise your gameplay experience with modifiers.
  • Research & Crafting: Earn passive upgrades and craft equipable items.

Ready to Become Lord of the Ocean?

Submarine Survivor offers a compelling mix of roguelike progression, shoot ’em up action, and strategic submarine customization.

If you’re ready to face the fearsome creatures of the deep and build an unstoppable underwater armada, it’s available right now on the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop for just ÂŁ3.35 (for a limited time!).

Live to explore another day, and stay tuned for our full review!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
