A roguelike deckbuilder (yep, another one!), Dicey Dungeons has drawn some rather favourable reviews and acclaim over the couple of years it has been in existence. It’s now time for Xbox players to begin to understand what all the fuss is about, as Dicey Dungeons rolls out on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with full Xbox Game Pass play available should you so wish.
Available to purchase and download right now, Dicey Dungeons first arrived on PC, then on Switch, and now on Xbox. If the reviews and ratings that it has picked up previously are anything to go by, this is one you shouldn’t be missing. And if dice are your thing, you’ll want to do well to check out Cardano Dice for all your shaker needs.
Created by Terry Cavanagh, Chipzel, and Marlowe Dobbe and priced at £11.24 or downloadable for free through Game Pass, Dicey Dungeons sees you taking on the role of a walking dice – a giant one at that. From there you’re left to navigate your way through an ever-changing dungeon system, hoping, praying and doing whatever it takes in order to escape the clutches of Lady Luck.
Because dungeons are involved, you should expect to happen across many monsters, all of which you’ll need to take down as best you can. Leveling up, hunting down loot andd carefully planning your next steps is all par for the course as well, as the roguelike mechanics and deckbuilding elements come into play.
The key features to keep in mind include:
- Six wildly different playable classes: Warrior, Thief, Robot, Jester, Inventor and Witch.
- Dozens of enemies, ranging from Vacuum Cleaners that want to suck your blood, to creatures from Irish mythology, to suave malevolent snowmen.
- A catchy, upbeat and energetic soundtrack by Chipzel (previously, the musician from Super Hexagon).
- Beautiful and adorable artwork by Marlowe Dobbe.
- Procedurally generated for endless play-throughs.
If you think you have what it takes to find success, all determined by the simple roll of a dice, you’ll probably like what Dicey Dungeons is delivering.
