Romancing SaGa 3 Brings Classic JRPG Goodness to… Everything!

-

romancing saga 3

After almost a quarter of a century-long exclusivity to Japan and the Super Famicom, Romancing SaGa 3 comes to the West for the first time. It’s available for purchase and download right now across all major platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. As well as handheld and mobile platforms: Nintendo’s Switch, PS Vita (^_^), Android and iOS.

Following the release of Romancing SaGa 2 in 2017, Romancing SaGa 3 is much more than a mere port of the JRPG classic. It features remastered HD visuals with new artwork, new scenarios and a whole new dungeon for returning players to explore. And if that’s not enough then there’s also a New Game+ feature for you to delve into. All this will cost you £27.99, unless you get in early from launch, from where a small launch discount is in place.

Originally released by Square in 1995, Romancing SaGa 3 bears close similarities to the early titles in the Final Fantasy series. Likewise, its development involved an impressive cast of creative personalities. Akitoshi Kawazu served as the game’s Executive Producer and later worked on titles like Final Fantasy XII and The Last Remnant.

Kenji Ito, known for his contributions to Shadow Hearts: Covenant and 2013’s Oceanhorn, composed the game’s score. And artist Tomomi Kobayashi provided the game with its beautiful artwork and signature character design.

With wonderful pixelated visuals, Romancing SaGa 3 serves as a nostalgic throwback to the golden era of JRPG’s. Choose from one of the eight playable heroes and set out into a vast fantasy world. Each hero boasts a unique backstory and abilities, with a narrative uniquely tailored to them. And decisions made by you further alter their journey.

Recruit other characters to bolster your party and participate in challenging turn-based combat. Build a party of up to six active characters and have them learn powerful new skills. Test their combat-prowess by descending into treacherous dungeons, uncovering treasure and battling horrifying creatures roaming the depths.

Romancing SaGa 3 is but one of the games in the series releasing by the end of the year, with SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions releasing on December 3rd. Sadly, no word on an Xbox One version for the latter. But for everything related to Romancing SaGa 3 and the beauty of classic JRPG’s, stay tuned for our upcoming review.
